2018 JD 1025r. anyone able to use 4 foot auger?

I've seen a one foot auger extension on the internet. Before buying or fabricating one, I plan to fiddle with my phd to make sure I have sufficient clearance to use it.

I suppose one could start with the 3', dig a ways down, disconnect the auger from the phd, and add an extension - wouldn't want to do this a lot, but for the occasional extra deep hole...

For setting tall posts I don't think 30 inchs is deep enough do you. I've been putting ten foot posts four foot deep with my old Ford tractor. I guess its not really an issue cause i can use a bigger tractor. But it would be more fun to use my new toy< blushing smile>

Hope you enjoyed it. From my standpoint, a PHD in a sub-compact is definitely a compromise. Beats a shovel (as always), but definitely not a perfect solution!

I agree 100%. But the many advantages of the tiny tractor out weigh its short comings, for me anyway.
