Hmmmm....looks like I am stuck in the house for awhile. Roads getting out of here are closed due to flooding. I see water in the pasture which means it is over the bridge. More rain on tap later.

poured firs t cup of coffee. 63° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 80° sun in afternoon. Got .98" of rain yesterday and overnight. Some light weight projects on the list today. Trying to stop my arm from hurting.

Yesterdays Dr. visit went well. At 76 not much to do when a biopsy shows 1% cancer in one sample out 12. So monitoring will continue every 3 months until who knows when. For those interest. Dr. gave me a book that should answer most questions about Prostrate Cancer. For know I am relived and I can spend my time worrying about my arm.

RNG, good catch. Maybe you need a cat.

Buppies, Ed and LS prayers for continued recovery.

Good Morning All.

I don't know how old you are, Ed. But when I became a police officer in Dallas (1964), the funeral homes contracted with the city to provide ambulance service. They were nearly always just one man in the ambulance, which as you said, was one of their hearses, and they did NO first aid or medical care on the scene. Police cars each had a first aid kit and the officers did any first aid they could do, if any was done. And no firemen came to the scene unless a police officer requested them to either put out a fire, or wash fuel off the street. And when an officer requested an ambulance, he specified a "white" ambulance or a "black" ambulance. Yes, there have been many changes over the years.

Water rescues on my road now. Guess people cannot read the big orange sign in the middle of the road. If your going downhill in water what do you expect at the bottom?

72 going to 87 and storms and hail predicted for this evening.

Ron, good news on your doctor report.

Eric, I went the other way - switched to fiberglass with my last handle since the hickories seemed to break too often.

RNG, everytime I see the fire on the news, it looks worse. Stay safe.

Yesterday was still too wet to do much, so went to the gym while my wife went to the grocery store, then had a nice baked trout lunch out and came home to sunshine. It dried out enough that I put down about 40 feet of Eternabond 6" tape on the shed roof. Metal roof...facing south...sunny and 85 degrees makes for a hot spot.

The roof leaks where the previous owner attached a nearly flat shelter roof to the nicely pitched shed roof. After serving well for decades, the galvanized tin has slightly warped and curled at the ends, so the rain travels down to the bottom, then up and under the shed tin, and then leaks down before it reaches the shelter tin piece underneath. I've tried caulk of different varieties, even tested some exterior expanding foam in the junction, but leaks return after a while. So decided to try this tape. The tough part is laying it on the many ribs of the roofing panels...up one side, down into the valley, back up and down again. Had to do 2 shelter junctions.

It rained hard less than an hour later, and I didn't notice any leaks. Will probably get a good testing today. I should have asked you guys how to fix. Maybe Teflon from Texas, or mortar from England.

Grass never dried yesterday, so hope it does today so I can ride the mower around. Most years it is so dry by the first day of August that the mower takes a long nap.

Good morning! Happy August 1st. Not a dog days today, it a cool 70˚ this morning need to get on the bike and do some hills. It only got to 99 yesterday with the wind from the North.

Snake boots have been replaced with dancing boots and bike shoes. Still waiting on Amazon for the cleats to attach to the bottom of the bike shoes to clip them to the pedal. The Shoe straps have evolved from shoe strings to velcro and now to a cranking wire system.

I like the color on the car Drew. The Rav4 is changing next year and I will be comparing with it.

Bird, the same funeral home ambulance service was available in Houston also before 1973 but the letter radio designation B or W of calling for which funeral home remained in effect through the 80s.

Anyone dumb enough to go around a "Flooded" sign probably expects to find a boat at the bottom, Rip.:confused2:

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 97F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Weather report reads like a broken record, but by the weekend we should see the temps drop by a few degrees, and if the predictions hold, it'll be back down into the 80s by next week. It's about time.

Never made it back to sleep; found a book to read instead. Maybe I should give it another try?

Happy Hump Day (again)...

That’s good news Ron continue to take care of yourself

Riptides one cannot fix stupid and that’s what you are seeing people driving around signs that warn them of the dangers ahead, oh but it won’t happen to me

Darwin suggested that stupidity will die out but it seems to be a really long process...;)

Truck reflashed, for fifth time, now downtown to deliver a box of veggies to food pantry, then home to roadside mowing and field bushhogging.
Rain permitting. Sure run the Kubota in 4wd doing the roadsides where things are wet, that slip slidey feeling heading towards the ditch in 2wd made a believer out of me.
I bet a lot of places on the East Coast are going to set high precip records this year. We seem to be getting Florida weather a lot further North than expected. Since I've lived down there, it feels familiar. Maybe just global warming playing out.
Mold is now growing back on my white fencing, won't even get half a year after cleaning, particularly those areas in the shade.
Bleach and powerwasher manufacturers just smile.

Good for your Dad. If the biopsy had shown than 1% would be getting some kind of treatment. Care for it has changed a lot since 1997.

I love cats, Ron, but I'm allergic to 'em.

Besides, I'd rather empty a mouse trap once in a while than a litter box a couple times a week. Those things make me retch.:vomit:

We don't have a cat for same reason. Wife is allergic to them. Plus we lost a baby from the disease that women can get from cat litter.

67 this morning and headed to 79 today. Are you guys sure this is August.

Trucks will be here at 6pm. to get birds. If everything goes well they’ll be gone by 9. 2 crews 2 barns tonight. Same crews tomorrow with other 2 barns. Feed shut off at 6:30 this morning. Need to go down and empty feedlines and hoppers/augers. They’ll come vacuum out the bins later in the week. One of the feed trucks has a vacuum on it and can put the feed back into the truck.

Eric. Question about sheep. Drove by some sheep the other day. Several of them were on their front knees grazing. Hind legs were straight. Is this normal? I’ve seen cows, well calves, graze laying down, but never had one kneel to eat. Just found it odd, maybe not.

Chicken company rep. complained to my FIL once about chickens sitting on their butts to eat. (Feedlines were too low). His response was what do you sit on to eat. He said she got a blank look, shut up and left.
