My 8560 is wet stacking at idle/low RPMs in the colder weather. It runs fine at higher RPMs and in the warmer weather. I don't have any experience working on diesels or fuel systems. I've reached out to my local mahindra dealer and he states that there isn't any bulletin regarding this work and he will not touch a factory setting. He's consulted with the local mahindra rep and is told the same. The machines fuel lines weep and they seem to think this is the root cause. I don't believe this to be the case as it's done this since the first winter before the lines began weeping. Any one deal with a similar problem and can offer advice?

Everything I've read about wet stacking has said it's primarily due to running a diesel engine at too low RPMs for too long, and not working them hard enough for extended periods. Diesels like to be run hard, and most are set up to maintain a higher temperature to run properly. This sounds like it would be your cause too since you notice it more in cold weather. How are you using the tractor, and what % of the time are you running it at full load verses idle?

Use the hand throttle to set the idle rpm up. Diesels have to run hot so make sure the engine temperature is in the middle of the normal range at all times.

Good luck

My 7520 did this. A very small advance in injection pump timing cleared it right up. -- A ~ <1 degree rotation of the injection pump body was all it took.

My tractor is not supposed to run at idle for more than 2 or 3 minutes. Longer than that, I'm supposed to run at 1200 rpm to prevent wet stacking. My tractor is rarely run under a heavy load so I make sure the first thing I do is set the hand throttle for 1200 rpm (or higher as needed) and use the foot throttle if I need more.

I appreciate the feedback. The machine is 5yrs old and has 140 hours, mostly just cutting grass. During that time it is always run at ~2k rpm. The few times doing other work like grapple or loader work i may let it run at idle if it's in between tasks not moving. A few times I have put the lever throttle to around 1k rpm to keep it from wet stacking but I came up with that on my own not knowing that is a actual recommended practice. I would like to get the injection pump timing advanced but the dealer will not modify a factory setting, thank you for the information regarding how far to advance the timing. Going forward I will try the 1200 rpm throttle position and if this does not cure it even in the cold then I will look to have the injection pump timing changed by a diesel shop.

have you checked the air filter.
I thought i was having a wet stacking problem, but I found the air filter dirty. Once I cleaned air filter housing, and installed new air filter, the problem went away.

I will P/M you with contact info on a good Mahindra tech rep.

Our JD 6200 is a mess from wet stacking at 1500 hours. It never did that when new. I'm guessing it doesn't hurt anything but I am curious to know what has changed. It doesn't get used any differently. I wonder if low sulpher fuel makes a difference.

On my Mahindra 2555 55hp turbo, I run a piece of Wally 1/4" sign plastic with a 9" hole in it centered on the fan in the winter. Same thing with my little 26hp 1526. The amount of cold air being pulled thru the usually oversized radiators keep the coolant temp from reaching the coolant thermostat set temperature. Everything is sized so it will run in the hot times in the summer, and is way over kill for the winter. You can cover the front of the hood, too. Like the truckers do on semi's, with a winter front. Just make sure you do not block it too much, and keep an eye on your gauges.... You want to keep your low idle speed up around 1200-1300 rpm in the cooler times, too.
