After solving minor cooling issues, was bushhogging back pasture and had done an acre, noticed loader bucket was dropping. Curled it back up but wouldn稚 stay up. Drove back to barn and parked. Checked hydro level and added 1.5 qts 303. Went back for 10 minutes with same results. Headed back to the barn and parked again. Loader and PTO still worked but slow and jerky with revs up and nothing at low revs. Then tried to back up and wouldn稚 move. Tried all gears and ranges. PTO engaged and spun bush hog normally. Didn稚 try diff lock since nothing else works. WINSTON, NORM, AARON! HELP!

Sounds like your suction strainer is stopped up although that doesn't explain the loader dropping.

That is sort of a strange group of symptoms. Basically, the only thing the powershift & loader have in common is the oil and the screen (different pumps and different valves) so a clogged screen makes sense there. I'm with Winston though and wondering how the loader dropping figures into this. Maybe the screen has a hole in it and let junk get into the valves?

Can we assume the 3ph does NOT work. If true that would mean an overall hydraulic prob, (screen, pump), plus possible other prob with loader dropping.

I am going to check it a little later. I will try to get a specific list of what does and doesn't work. I know the PTO still works but not sure of the 3 pt. BTW, do you or anyone else have a picture of the filter access on the 1610D? I'm not sure I know what it looks like. And are the bolts usually frozen like everything else on these old tractors? Thanks for the help. I'm a bit disabled in my retirement and need all the help and advice I can get.:)

Okay, just went down to run and check the tractor and I found that Jesus stopped by but I guess had to leave to help someone else before quite finishing his work on mine.

So started her up and warmed for 5 minutes, put her in gear and she goes backwards. Tried a quick shift to 1st. She goes forward. 3 pt up and down normally. FEL arms up and down normally. CURL would barely move. Went for 10 minute test drive, exercising everything. Curl continues to drop and now bucket will not lift at all. Up and down arms still fine.

So now just dealing with inoperative curl on FEL. I'm thinking of mechanically raising the bucket and chaining it up or something so I can finish the bushhogging. Think I'll hurt anything doing this? And where to start on inop bucket?

Bit of a mystery. You still need to check your strainer whether the tractor moves or not. If it didn't at one point then there has to be something going on. Follow your hydraulic suction line (big one) to where is hooks into the transmission. Then go to the opposite side of the transmission right in line with the suction line and you will see a 3 bolt flange. That flange should not be hard to remove. Your suction screen is behind that. You will need to drain the fluid first. At least 4 gallons.

All this likely won't fix the curl on your bucket. That is probably related to a bad cylinder or control valve.
