Anyone get the newspaper delivered to them?

When my magazine subscriptions are needing renewed they offer a 3 for 1 subscription. If I buy 1 year for myself, then I can send a yearly subscription to 2 of my friends for no extra cost.

This may be why you are getting magazines that you never asked for. A friend gave it to you.

Well, there you go. Assuming he is still sharp enough at that age to operate it. Our recently deceased MIL, could not. But she had dementia. I hope your dad is doing well.

He just needs to get used to it. He won't change from his flip phone either LOL

He's been here going on two months now, and honestly he hasn't been progressing as well as we all would like to see him. Took him to the VA last week, and we have an appointment this Thursday. Hopefully if we can get a decent doc, we can figure out why he isn't healing as fast and still has some sore days. On a plus note, he seems to be all in for staying now. Even talked about selling his house. We will see.

Golf is definately still out, but he was amazed at how many golf courses are around us within 20 minutes of driving (we went out following his GPS in his car last week).

Just orderd a topo map book of NC for him. He was looking at NC in my Rand Mcnalley (sp??) and I forgot he is all about paper maps in his hands. Hoping that NC map book will help him figure out where everything is in the state. He got a pretty good feel for everything local just looking at the book seeing how all the roads interconnect.

Thanks for asking.

I doubt that as they are addressed with our daughter's name but our address - where she has not lived for maybe 15 years. Any friend of hers would know she no longer lives here. And her taste in reading material and magazines now pretty much precludes these two magazines.

But I have also received the "buy one and give two" offers. The last offer like that was from Handyman magazine, but also recall getting that offer, or a similar offer from Nutrition Action magazine.

I like that magazine for the short attention span it takes to enjoy it. I take it to Dr. appointments and the like, where I usually have to wait my turn in the lobby.

I've been getting National Geopraphic as a gift from my in-laws since 1985. My dad was getting it since the 50's. When my dad got cancer and was in and out of care facilities and his house, we changed his mailing address to my house so I'd get his bills and mail. Well, somehow, after he passed away, they changed the start date of my subscription to his start date and started sending me notes thanking me for being a faithful subscriber since 1956...... I was born in '61!

Not newspaper but when I was younger I worked in a local mill that made telephone book paper, both white and yellow pages. So I would see phone books through their life cycle. Making the paper, using the phone book and then recycling the phone book.

My Grandmother always sent Reader's digest...

I still kept getting it after she passed accompanied by a Christmas Card each year.

Seemed she had prepaid and that lasted 2 or 3 years...

Brother's father in law was plant super intendant of a huge paper mills... they could bring logs in by ship and process recycled... had a rail spur and large power plant... quite an operation...

All gone now with out a trace except for the perimeter fence and the scale house and deep water dock.

Brother was never interested in such things... so one day I asked if there was a chance to see it...

Got the red carpet treatment... went with my sister in law and my 2 year old niece...

I never got to tour a paper mill. Many of my co-workers got to make the trip to Canada. There is still one privately owned family paper mill just a few miles from here, up in Niles, Michigan. The French Paper Co. The family's name is French, not France french. It's actually their last name. French. They own the dam on the river that provided hydro electric power for their mill. And they're a pioneer in recycled papers.

Anywho, nothing but good rumors about that company around here.
