yep, every time we crank up that vehicle, tractor, lawnmower, etc,.

Maybe they'll walk everywhere they go. Use a pick and shovel instead of tractors to till the soil.
No oil to change, no diesel, gasoline fumes, etc, etc,.
I Hope they can survive

False dilemma: Either we douse the entire world with toxic chemicals, or we go back to living in caves.

Next up: the "slippery slope."

:confused2:

There are a lot of opinions on Roundup. In this highly complex civilization it is difficult to know what is true. We have experts in creating confusion, spinning facts, creating doubt, and telling us what we want to hear for hire. There has been much evidence over the years of corporations lying or withholding info on their products. Medicine is an uncertain science and accepted views often change over time. Individual differences in DNA, overall health, etc. cause completely different reactions to the same exposures to bacteria, medicines, chemicals, etc. Further everyone is continually exposed to a vast amount of cumulative influences from chemicals in building materials, furniture, air pollution, clothing, etc., etc., etc. One chemical that might otherwise have not harmed an individual may take their body over the edge in receptivity to disease.

Bottom line is that each of us has make our own risk assessments regarding numerous aspects that affect our lives and our society as a whole. Looking at Roundup in particular, do the benefits override the risks for myself, my family, and future generations? Do I want to take the chance? Am I believing, doing, or supporting something because it is convenient, is financially beneficial, is what my social or political circles believe, or because it is the opposite to those I disapprove of believe? Have I taken an unbiased and honest look? Do I care enough to do so?

Very astute and very accurate in my opinion. I prepared a long response, but lost it somehow. I will say that I have a biological, chemical and legal background. I have always tried to limit my family's exposure to chemicals and biologicals of all types. GMO's and agricultural chemicals are highly suspect; and I want to avoid them as much as possible. When dealing with biological systems, sometimes things don't turn out like you think they should and may not be 100% reproducible...which brings me to global warming, biological systems and computer models...

Currently there's a lot of controversy over glyphosate, so there are a lot of articles. ("Glyphosate is Killing Us All!" "Don't Worry, Folks. Glyphosate is Actually Good for You!") :) Take your pick:

Crop desiccation - Wikipedia

Read an article in HuffPo written by a farmer defending the practice as safe.

Read that glyphosate is found in many of the foods we eat.

Bothers me a bit.
Where did you get the part where they spray "right before harvest"?

Ok, saw it. I would not think they would do that...

Since it's a weed control product rather than insect control, WHY would they do that?

Goes back to my previous comment about improper use/application and liability would fall on the farmer rather than the manufacturer..

Take wikipedia for what it is, not always factual...

They do it to kill down the plant to make it easier to pick.

But .... it's supposed to kill the weeds, not the plant so the plant can grow to produce the product. I'm confused.

Doesn’t have to be true, commonplace or widespread. It’s in Wikipedia so therefore it is gospel and available to preach to the masses that don’t know or care enough to verify information before believing or broadcasting.

No one said that, or even implied it.

The Wiki article includes dozens of links you can click to see the original sources of the information, useful for fact-checking.

There are many other articles, with different POVs. Google is your friend.

Most people seem surprised to learn of this practice. I know I was.
