Co-wrote Sweet Home Alabama. Left the group before the fatal crash.

Band biographer Mark Ribowsky said that King was the outsider in Lynyrd Skynyrd as he was the only non-Southerner, but that King made the band professional.

I knew they didn't like him alot at first, because he was different.

So I guess I was inaccurate.

But I'm siding with rlgustafson. I'm from the same state as him. He knows how it is.

Both the queen of soul and prince died without a will. Heirs are getting nothing from the large estates. Also interesting is that 40% of those who died during 9/11 had no wills.

Nothing unusual about people dying without wills; even lawyers. I do wish you would explain why the "Heirs are getting nothing from the large estates", though. In the normal course of events, when people die intestate, there is a statute that dictates how the estates will be divided. If the property is in joint tenancy, like your home and car, it will pass to the survivor without any fuss. If there is a lot of property and holdings, not in joint tenancy, intestate statutes usually dictate that the wife will get half, kids the rest. If there is no wife or children, it will go the parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, etc.
Probate will take care of the lien holders and other debtors.

They might have created Living Trusts and placed all their assets in the trust - thus no will.

True; but then the "Heirs" would then be getting "something" from the large estates...it would just not be conveyed by a will, although a trust can be, and often is, created in a will.
