Good morning!!!!

Good morning, I would have said we were in for a wet day today, though in comparison to David's staggering rain gauge readout, this only classifies as slightly damp.

Facebook is not for me, though my wife quite enjoys keeping in touch with others that way. It's quite expensive to send pictures with standard text messages here, so the kids got me using WhatsApp to send one another pics and must admit that does a nice job of sharing things for free between family.

Renewed my tractor insurance yesterday and had to laugh at one of the conditions that says there is no accidental damage cover while carrying nitro glycerine, or more than 2,000 shotgun cartridges or bullets. If I ever had that much fun, I probably wouldn't care :)

Kyle, congrats on another anniversay. Regular lessons in life and death is a common theme with keeping chickens, they are just too tasty for their own good. Hope your daughter cheers up soon.

Good morning all, 60 going to 86 with a 20% chance of T-storms then a 30% chance of showers. Don't need to make plans for today, I can just take yesterdays and apply them. Had an emergency nap yesterday and it sure kept me from getting much done. :)

Rip, sure is good to hear that your wife is doing better. :cool2:

Kyle, could it be a weasel? I am told they stick the neck with their fangs and drink the blood. Just a guess as I have never dealt with them. Will be praying for your daughter.

Have a great day, prayers sent. Ed

I laughed at this also Eric. I spent a year of my life teaching insurance policy exclusions to trainees and mid level management at Travelers Insurance, and what fun it would have been to be able to bring a little fake nitro into class...instead we talked boringly of mold and dripping pipes.

slept well last night, hope BEF did too. Lots of good news this morning with folks on the mend, and David is not washed off his mountaintop in paradise. Sad that John McCain passed, but glad that finally ended; N stage cancer is not pretty, nothing good about it, want it to end asap.
With dignity.
And Senator McCain embodied dignity. He always had my respect.

Chief Inspector of the Garden Club aka Miss Daisy is coming over after lunch to determine if my pile of leftover flower pots will make the grade for my new plants. Allowing these two older women to make all the decisions...plus I put a hundred bucks in their purse and said have fun and go indoor plant shopping. That got some big smiles...

Got my annual real estate tax bill. Despite big hoopla over reappraising everything last year throughout the county, mine stayed exactly the same.
And it's about half of what it should be to support a quality infrastructure. But it isn't, which helps me, but sure doesn't help the teachers, fire and police. Almost all the men have to have second jobs to support their families, who they then almost never see. And the local public schools are low performers, get ok grades but never good. Close to 100 percent of college bound high school grads go to Eastern Carolina University, in next town over, or local community college. Not a lot of cultural cross pollination...
And not a lot of folks of color going to college.
ok, end of sociology review...

Time to shower and shave and pick up the house for inspection.
First going to make a nice Sunday breakfast and give thanks for many things.

59 going up to 88 and sunny. Next rain maybe Thursday.

RIP, glad wife is doing better.

Eric, does your homeowners insurance provide any tractor coverage? Do you buy insurance for liability purposes or casualty? I've never thought about insurance.

Son and girlfriend back from Montana and came up for dinner/puppy retrieval and overnight stay...had lots of smoke from the fires there. They are heading home today. I'll miss the puppy but looking forward to calmer moments. My wife made a delicious Hatch chile relleno casserole for dinner and I cooked hamburger and turkeyburger sliders and roasted corn. GF asked is she could shoot pistols today. [Thumbs up]

59 right now...high, about 80 and maybe rain later in the day.
Dump run, mowing and trimming all done yesterday. Only chore today is to troubleshoot a slow draining sink in the head.

Added at 0805:
After supper yesterday (about 1800 or so), I sat on the back deck watching the birds searching for bugs after the yard was mowed....there was also a juvenile chipmunk being very adventurous...running under the chain link fence into the yard, then back out under cover. I'm pretty simple, and it doesn't take too much to amuse me...but that little chippermunk running back and forth was quite entertaining (maybe it was the beer too)

Drinking first cup of coffee. 69 with heavy fog this morning. Heading to 88° with sun in afternoon. Yesterday was a putter day. Did make it to HD and order cabinets and counter top for Kitchen Island. Should arrive in about a month. Hope my arm is better by then. Garden pond maintenance this morning. Then back in house because of heat and humidity.

Riptide, glad to hear you wife is free of pain.

Drew, sure wish schools and collages had more trade classes. When I graduated from high school I could run a mill & lathe, and weld. Draw and read mechanical drawings. My first job was at a shop that manufactured automotive parts. Within 6 months I was a job setter for the machines. Stayed there 2 years. Then got a job at a large machine building company. Stayed there 5 years. During that time I became a journeyman toolmaker. Left there is 1968 to take a job as a field service technician. Never ran a machine again except for my own. But I credit those early years in high school for my success at my jobs. I was terrible in english and similar classes. Good news on taxes.

Kyle, sorry about the chicken. Here is a link to some predators of chickens. It does not list Owls. They can be very aggressive toward chickens. Hope your daughters recovers from the stress quickly.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

Ron, my favorite class in High School was Shop. I was often able to go to Shop instead of study hall.

Never had a chance to learn a trade, my parents were bound and determined all four kids went to college. And we did.
Always wondered if I would have had more fun being a plumber or electrician. Instead of head of sales, and marketing, and operations.
It was the Sixties and I was having enough problems with my Father, being a bit rebellious...and he of the law and order variety for sure.
So off I went to the same college he went to, and my older brother went to. College was a blur, what times they were. Even if one
was not under the influence of mind altering substances.

I believe nurses and truck drivers are in hot demand now. And manufacturing workers who can pass a drug test are bonused to start, very competitive job market. Anyone who pays less than 15 an hour is at risk of losing help.

Morning all. Just taking it in by the pool this AM. Should be in the 90's later.
Had some friends over last night. Wife was more than happy to see them. Slowly getting back to normal. The pain issue being gone is amazing but the reversal of nerve pinching and subsequent numbing is the absolute best deal in this whole ordeal. All I can do is give thanks.

Too bad on the chicken during daylight Kyle. Sounds like another bird may have gotten to it. Our local coyotes will make their presence known during the day but will also keep their distance from people's activities.

I am going to take in the day and go work on the run in shortly.

Have a great day sll. Be safe. 1535285386327.jpg
