Replacing the PTO shaft on my 1996 Massey Ferguson 231 tractor and want to replace hydraulic oil with new oil. I have read that it takes Permatran III 10W30 hydraulic oil. I cant seem to find many places that sell it in my area. We have several Tractor Supply stores around here but they don't have the Permatran III oil. Is there a comparable oil that is a good replacement for the Permatran III oil. Thanks for the help. Have A Blessed day

Any universal tractor hydraulic fluid will work but I wouldn't use the junk they sell at the box stores, go to a local oil company and get a name brand like Chevron or Shell.
So I assume the 10W30 weight hydraulic would be the right one to use.
With my recently acquired MF 1045 3 cyl. 35hp tractor 11.5 gal capacity I’m using VP Racing 20 weight; a new generation Hydraulic fluid designed for old tractors. Very affordable at 31.00/5 gallons. Anyone have a line on Toyosha fuel injectors?

Maybe Amoil... They have been at the synthetic oil longer then anybody....Permatrans III is a 10w30 oil. Stated right on container as "semi synthetic"...
