Day started in high 30s, expected to be in 70s today with smoke returning. I have to remember to take the faucet timers off and manually water now (freeze can happen any day now and the timers are sensitive to freezing). I want to spray some weeds one more time before I winterize sprayer. I still need to tear out old deck and replace.. I'm too cheap to hire someone so will get it done myself (with help from wife).. not very big (16'x24') and not very high (less than 24" from ground).

Wife and I haven't been to Hawaii. Been strongly considering this.

It's the only state I've never visited, and in spite of hearing great things about it from other family members, I reckon I'll not ever get there.

But it could be.

Time to renew my open invitation to my TBN family...
I surprised my wife with a maui trip for our 15th anniv. All i told her was we are going to the beach. I couldnt hide it from her in the airport.

Had a little party for the boy. He moved in with us 11 years ago today. Got him a cake and a couple presents. He is a happy boy, cake does that. :)

PJ, happy late anniversary. I agree someone should get people to be nice all across the country. Ed

nope, it's me. I'm taking a very fast ship through the Panama Canal and should be on the Big Island by dinner time.
My latest sci fi novel taught me how to make warp drive at home...;) just carry it around like a portable hotspot
Got to make David's latest buffet!

Showered and in for afternoon, 94 out, painted mailbox post plus a few other wooden fence posts, mowed a little, then powerwashed the mower which really needed it, kinda went aahhhh when I put it back under the shed all shiny and clean

Mostly, are you getting out on your boat? Any fish stories? Like the one that dragged your boat across the lake?
That's always a good one...:D

I suspected you had something to allow you to get all that work done. Does it take you back in time so you can help yourself ? :)

Not what I call postcard Hawaii, but I’d strongly recommend the Big Island if even just part of your trip. We are on the Hamakua coast.
Just PM me when ready.

And a belated Happy Anniversary

No buffet today Drew. Just going to light off the Primo and grill some burgers and dogs - Simple!
Of course should you bring some of your bounty just think of the possibilities.

My family (wife and I, then when we had kids, them too) went to Kauai a number of times. The first time we went there, there was a traffic light or two and we had a blast, seeing all the sites, many of them multiple times. We had a week time share, then added a week, then after a the hurricanes, had to sell as the maintenance fees were just too high for a struggling family.

We went again with a group from church in 2013, my oh my how things have changed, lots of traffic lights, lots of traffic, lots of people (compared to first trip). We stayed on beach north of airport at Kapaa and drove daily to Poipu beach on south shore to spend the day snorkeling and relaxing on beach.. We went back by ourselves in 2016 and spent most of our time at Poipu beach again, stayed in Kapaa again (reasonably priced rental (time share converted to rental) called Islander). I would go every year if I could afford it.

I highly recommend Hawaii for special occasions, including vacations. It has something for everyone, we (as noted above), just like to relax on the beach. The last time, a large turtle (3-4 feet across) swam up beside my wife as she was snorkeling. Experience of a lifetime..

Never been Kauai yet,Maui once back in the 90’s, used to live Oahu, 77-81 so except plane change, 5 years ago for Sophie’s birthday. We think it’s very special here.
Our TBN GM family is welcome to stay with us during your BI visit. No frills and just might tap into your knowledge. Might even let you mow
