Hello, I just picked up the tractor last night, Ive done a search on this forum to read any prior posts but search function as Im using it dosent seem to filter my specific tracor.

I know nothing about tractors, never owned one. Are these good tractors? How do they rank when compared to the bigger names?

Supposedly it was cared for and kept inside, frame and running gear look that way.

I bought it so that I could get some help clearing some land I own.

I am needing to haul wood and I am hoping there is a trailer that will somehow bolt to the tractor. It has a mower attachment on it now, I know nothing about that, dont even know how it disconnects.

Ill post some crappy pictures that were taken late last night in the rain.

How hard will it be to find implements and what might be avail that you guys can suggest in my land clearing?

I have 5 acres here in FL that I am working to put my retirement home on. At this point it is wooded but not densely or heavily.

Thanks

I have alot of questions as well, hopefully someone can take the time to answer within this thread. Seems like alot of people on these online forums have a problem with alot of threads

:welcome: to TBN.
Congrats on great find.
Interesting front ballast but I am sure you could do better. ;)
Attachment such as rake or blade should be problem, mowers front loader you may have to search a bit.
Towing trailer should be draw bar of sort...male or female end for pin.

tractordata.com has info.

In Florida at this time of year just give it a few seconds.
Did you run it before you got it?
Also fill out things like your location.

It doesn't turn off like on *most* diesel trucks. The much newer machines do, but not the older ones. Even my '02 BX2200 you need to count.

Also, don't run them for more than 30 seconds if it's above 70F. It ain't good for them, you might wind up burning them out. Besides, if you need to glow it at 70F or higher, check your compression.

I don't need to glow mine when the temperature is above 40F or higher. Every engine is different!

On my machine, when it's 30F, I typically glow it for 7 seconds. When it's -30F, I glow it for 35 seconds. Always starts first shot. Though at -30F the first minute or two sounds like I just woke a beast up from the dead with all the popping, but she'll run. lol

I too, have used the '7 tick' startup procedure [except when engine hot] without a miss. Though it seems a little odd, my 6100 does not shut down by way of the key, but rather, by the throttle. The ignition light, however, remains on until I turn the key off.
The 6100 is a solid and durable little worker. I cut with a 48" MMM and, with chains [over turfs] and a 4" rear blade, have moved snow pretty well. Lack of power steering is one of the few complaints, which can be minimized somewhat with the addition of a spinner.
Good luck

Also when I turn the key to the left to glow plug it the oil light is what comes on, it seems that maybe my glow plug indicator is busted and maybe someone re-wired it? How can I fix this or are parts made from unobtanium for these old tractors?
