Remember that when the power goes off it's very likely that cellular phones will stop working as well. And if land line poles go down, there will be no communication that way, either. Some cell phones have on board AM or FM radios, though, and they can be charged from a car battery. Better to have a portable, battery powered radio, or even better, one of those with a hand crank on it. And the little blow up solar Lucy lights are very nice after dark when the power's out. A backpacker's water filter could come in handy as well.
Not sure how useful a keg of beer would be in a weather emergency, David. I think I'd want my wits about me if the unexpected happens.:confused3: But it sure would be nice to have a cold one after a hard day of cleanup after the storm passes.
I have friends that just moved to New Bern, NC, fleeing the politics of Kalifornia and Oregon. Looks like they're in for a very soggy welcome.
Finished a couple of brackets for mounting the headlight on the old BMW yesterday, and ordered a high tech LED H4 bulb for it. Also LEDs for the turn signals and parking bulb in the headlight reflector.
Grocery run to town this afternoon, and will stop to check on the mechanic again. I forwarded information on fixing the last computer fault code to him Sunday, but haven't heard back. He's been working on it for two weeks and I found the answer with a ten minute Internet search, and confirmed it with a question posted to a Subaru conversion forum that was answered in an hour. :banghead:
