New Grapple

It doesn't have to be fancy. I don't weld. So I took the grill guard to our local welding shop. This is what a young fellow there came up with. He thought I should paint the "tongue" red. If you look closely there are two "bolts" on each side. The upper bolt/pin keeps the guard locked in an upright position. The lower bolt is the pivot bolt. The guard folds down so the hood will have clearance to open.

He did a nice job for you ! I would be very happy with that.

Yes - in a rather strange way - it does give the tractor some personality. AND it works. I've pulled a couple branches out of the expanded metal that might have gone on and "perforated" something. I know it doesn't protect from everything but every little bit helps.

Are you going to paint the tongue red some day? Adds more personality?

geoduck - I think I might take the "chicken" way out on the tongue. I've got some red craft paper - cut & tape a chunk on the tongue and see what I think.

If I do - I'll be sure to take an updated picture to post.

Interesting pic. Music wise - its got to be Guns & Roses. Take a step even further back - Peter, Paul & Mary. Go back one more step??? - Frank Sinatra.

Ha, ha - well, goeduck - - I could leave that log the way it is or cut it up half a dozen times - it would still be in the exact same place there on the ground. Just THINKING about lifting a chunk of that log and my back starts to ache.

That is a nice log - actually it looks a lot like my Ponderosa pine I've got here.

Steve - what kind of tree is that in your grapple?
