LoL...I'm hardly upset...hopefully you might wake up with a little more of a realist's point of view and will be able to see more of the bigger picture...

I'm half in agreement on the cat issue.... my mom used to let our cats out. All they did was kill birds and chipmunks and bring the corpses to us, then go eat their cat food. It's not the cat's fault. It's what cats do. But people that let cats run irk me. We have cats and keep them indoors.

There's probably 50 feral cats in our neighborhood. Animal control catches some of them, but its ridiculous.

If you're gonna have outdoor cats, at the very least, have then spayed or neutered and up-to-date on their shots. Anything less is just plain irresponsible and, for that matter, cruel, as they are susceptible to to many diseases, parasites, fleas, ticks, etc....

So looking up rat control (a friend of mine with horses told me he has a rat problem in his barns), I found this guy that uses trained minks and a dog to catch rats. WOW! It is really neat. Watch the videos...

I can't believe I just spent an hour watching a mink and a dog killing rats, but it was strangely satisfying.

I always have and always will take the best of care of any barn cats I obtain. They represent my primary line of defense against intruding rodents. I did not watch the video but that top picture says it all - that fellow has an on-going rat problem.

MossRoad - you have feral cats in your neighborhood - I've got mice, chipmunks, pocket gophers and a few rats in my immediate yard and outbuildings. The barn cats I get will eliminate the intruding rodents. And anybody who thinks a chipmunk can do no damage - you aren't living out in the country. They will do just as much damage as any mouse.

It used to be common for people to let their dogs run free, also. (Actually there's a thread going about that right now.) It took years of education and fines to reduce that. I get rather po'ed as I'm required to license my dog yearly and keep his shots up to date- and keep him restrained. Yet many people think that it's funny when a cat attacks my dog... And I'm a bad person if I'm not gentle protecting him.
OK, maybe I shouldn't have kicked that cat out into traffic, but my dog was resting quietly on her leash waiting for me to bring her an ice cream.

That day has come many years ago. Don't believe me, just price a bottle of water, over $1 for the cheapest brand per quart, that is over $4 per gallon without sales tax (no road tax either like gasoline). In my town, gasoline is $2.55 per gallon ($.63 per quart) including tax. Water has been selling for more than gasoline for many years now.
Sure it is cheaper by the gallon from your neighborhood water system, but that price has been rising steadily for years also.
You are comparing apples to oranges though; go into Walmart and price a quart of their "no-ethanol gas", about 9$/quart. What you are buying is the packaging. I buy water to carry in my trucks, by the gallon for .99. Or I can stop by a campground in a distant town and fill my own jugs for 25 cents.

Holy Mother of Martha - you guys just aren't OUT IN THE COUNTRY. Yes - I keep my one dog up to date on shots. No - he is not licensed. BTW - I wonder who would license dogs out here. Also, BTW, who would care if my dog out here is licensed? BTW, who, out here would even check to see if my dog is licensed???? My NEAREST neighbor is 4.5 miles distant by road. I live one mile off the small paved county road. I get AT THE MAX - six visitors a year. Hopefully, one of the visitors is a County Deputy Sheriff - checking to see that everything is still all right here.

And you guys are talking about the price of a quart of water. Man - what is this world coming to - -- buying water???? I have NEVER bought a cup of coffee from a place like Starbucks either. For that matter - I've never been in a place like Starbucks.

The water from my big 'ol spring is just fine - I'll take a jug of it with me if I'm traveling and it does just great making all the coffee this old fart will ever drink - thank you.

I quit drinking soda of any kind, type, flavor etc - a tad over 28 years ago. Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. For me its - water on the rocks or coffee or tea. You spend your money on Starbucks coffee - Fiji bottled water - and the magnitude to soda varieties. I spend my $ on various types of insulated bottles - so I can take my water, from my home faucet, with me.

Different strokes for different folks. However - what I will never understand - why do so many tolerate the obviously nasty water that comes out of their home faucets??? I see so many spend so much on cases of bottled water. Why aren't they doing something about cleaning up the water that comes out of their home faucets??? Amazing...........
