I do have R4 tires. Lets hope that they tires with tubes on them "stick" better to the wheel surface. If not, this will be a very short experiment as the valve will be torn from the tube in the event of a tire slip. That will be bad... not to mention MESSY!

Well as a last resort you could drill evenly spaced holes in the bead area of the rim and screw the tires on with short screws. I don't know if they still do this but drag racers used to do this regularly to keep their tires from spinning on the rim.

That is an interesting concept. :eek: I wouldn't do that even as a last resort. Screws and tires don't mix, plus it would throw the balance off.:D

Hope your cleaning and recounting works. The Titan/Goodyear on line manual says low tire pressure, too much lubricant used in mounting, and poor knurling on the rim bead surface are the prime causes. You said you are running the recommended pressure. It will be a major problem now with tubes. Back in the old days when we had all tubes tires that was a major problem. We used to have a tool that clamped the replacement stem to a tube, equipped with something like gunpowder that you lit and vulcanized the new stem (about 2 to 3 inch diameter rubber base on the stem) to the tube. Best thing was tubeless tires so I could get rid of that rough and smelly job at dad's dealership.

If you want to see how we did that in the old days look for a you tube video "old school vulcanizing tire patch" that shows patching complete with the smoke I remembered. He shows one small patch but they came in all sizes including valve stems.

We have not had any dry ground since the tubes were installed, so no great traction, but so far (knock on wood) there is no issue with slipping. I guess I will not really know the truth until late spring when the ground turns back into a firm substance. I hope that between now and then that the tires will mate tightly to the wheels and then stay put.

OK, so maybe I'm not as nuts as I thought I was.

I just had this issue on my two day old LS. Dealer couldn't figure it out at first and we thought the hydro was defective from the factory. But after testing at their shop, they found the same thing --- Rimguard causing the tires (yes R4s) to slip on the wheels causing loss of traction and forward motion.

They say they demounted, cleaned and added bead sealant, then remounted and refilled.

Very strange problem for a brand new machine.

OK, so maybe I'm not as nuts as I thought I was.

We tubed mine and got rid of the issue. It never happened animal after that.
