Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Speaking of tarps went to H.Freight today in advance of the hurricane Florence. Lines were about 10 deep at 5 registers. The guy in front of me bought $450 in tarps and, hold downs. The guy in front to him,had the same. No gas cans, about out of batteries and straps and rope.

Stoped on the way home for fuel, no ethanol free gas, 4 hrs later the same station had no gas only diesel.

Wish me luck.......

Those same gas cans that Harbor freight sells for $18 are the same brand that most parts stores carry, and you can find them just about everywhere else.

But those exact brand and model of gas and diesel fuel cans can be had from Rural King for $9.99 instead of $18 at Harbor freight and $20 some dollars at a parts store.

I have 5 of these newer yellow diesel ones and 5 of the newer red gasoline ones. I find that the newer style automatic vent thing works much better and let's fuel through much faster than the original ones that suck horribly. I really do not miss the old ones with the flip open vent cap. Engineering had caught up to legal constraints to the point that we are back on track.

Well, I ordered one. Used a 20% off coupon, so ended up paying about $32. It came in a few days ago, but I haven't gotten around to modifying the width to fit my truck.
That thing has seriously saved my back. Countless loads af gravel, dirt and much.

What do you do if you have a rough texture sprayed in bed liner? I would think that my bed liner would rub through the thing in just a couple uses.

I have plastic bed liner so no issues. I've seen the spray in liner discussed but forget exactly. I'm thinking they used a sheet of plywood. It's a few thousand posts back in this thread IIRC.

Many of the diesel and gas cans at HF, TSC, RK and auto part all seem to come from the same style blow molds, but the spout mechanisms can be different. The cans shown on the Rural King site as of right now (for $10.99) are the slightly older model with the fixed red spout and the internal valve mechanism that emerges when pressure is applied against the fuel tank lip. HF and TSC are now stocking the newer, and IMO even better, design with the all-black spout that has a thin red clip that you press to unlock. Then, pressure against the fuel tank lip causes the forward section of the spout to telescope into itself. I have several of both styles, plus a variety of older designs. In any case, if you want to increase the flow rate even more, just drill a 31/64" hole at the back of the top grip and add one of these pop-in vent caps for about 30 cents a piece. I, like Rock Crawler, don't miss the early, or pre, EPA styles.

I've not only a bed liner but also a set of rails for my fifth wheel/gooseneck hitch which I don't use much. I just took a 3/4" 4x8 sheet of PT plywood, painted it heavily (4? coats) and leave it in. They also sell a plastic mat for that purpose.

The all black style that you described is what my RK sold me. They are way better than that older design with the tip that sticks out as your pouring, and they really move fuel as fast as my old vented cans.

Some places sell a smooth plastic mat that you can put in your bed before putting in the unloader. Really, anything smooth would do.

Yes I use a heavy duty smooth mat on top of my lineX coated bed, then roll out the unloader. Works great for dirt, bark, gravel, etc.
