If you’re not familiar with the device it’s a little piece that screws in between the suction hose between the motor and the filter. It’s supposed to measure resistance of the filter. The end fell of mine which was letting unfiltered air get sucked into the motor. Luckily it only had about a 1/16 hole so it wasn’t much volume. It couldn’t have done the engine any favors, but I don’t think immediate harm resulted either. It still runs with no blowby at 2200 hours.

my JD 4300 has one that can be reset by pushing it down. It's on the air filter housing. Could be easily modified to go on any brand tractor

I just took the broken one off and screwed in a pipe plug.

I have one on my dozer - A tiny 1/16" diameter steel line runs all the way to the dash where the pop up alarm is. Just looks like something that's gonna break. I probably should plug it before it does. It could be 30 years old.

I added a suction gauge to my tractor, it had an optional port for one. I have heard about the concerns related to unfiltered air if the plastic gauge were to break. When I took my plug out to install it, I noticed John Deere thought to install a type of permanent metal "air filter" inside the hole. So there are perhaps no worries - depending on if your brand has the same design.

Mine had the same design. I pulled the suction hose loose to see how it looked inside and it was dirty so at least some dirt got by.
