Drew, maybe easier to replace with a prehung door if a standard size. If not, maybe modify the opening to accept a standard.

Pretty good day. Flail worked great with new belts and tension bolt. Got a couple hours of my regular mowing.

Switched out flail to rotary and another few hours bushhogging. Some new cutting but mostly 2nd cut, already a foot high in places, but mostly grass growth, not the viney stuff. Still thick enough to bog down at times. Quit just as rain started.

RNG, sorry the Van front end alignment didn't happen, but clearly you are on the down slope. Is the vibration problem solved or is the mechanic waiting to the the tire wear fixed?

He found that the bushings that support the front differential were badly distorted and cracked, and that effects the alignment of the input shaft for that differential. So new bushings have been ordered. The alignment could also be contributing, but we won't know until it's done. Didn't happen today, either. My mechanic. Boy, he really knows how to pick 'em. Birds of a feather I guess.:banghead:

Glad you've got your vertigo under control, MG. A friend of mine's wife had to give up motorcycling because she didn't know when and episode would start, and the back of a motorcycle isn't a very good place to be when it does.

And I love cruise control.

Me too Bird. It makes driving without inadvertently breaking the speed limit so much easier. Have you tried a car with adaptive cruise control, where it automatically keeps a safe distance from the car in front ? It took me a while to trust what I first thought was a gimmick, but now I wouldn't buy a vehicle without it. So far I've had a Honda, Toyota and Subaru with this. All worked well, Subaru the most user friendly.

Not quite so sunny today, though that's even better for me today as I will be spending a few hours cutting and splitting firewood.

Thanks for those growing tips Jim. Microwaving chestnuts sounds sacrilege, but I suppose like a lot of things in life, you shouldn't knock it unless you've tried it. When I was a kid the chestnuts would be roasted below the oven grill. I would often "forget" to fork holes in one or two, he resultant minor explosions were well worth the telling off.

Bups, you've had more than your fair share of skin cancer without now finding it down your rear cleavage. Good luck - if anyone can cope with that calmly, it's you. At least it's one of those rare occasions on TBN where we won't be asking for pictures ;)

The lane rule for us on M roads is easy, we drive on left whenever the road ahead is clear. Other lanes are only for use while passing slower moving vehicles, we return to the left as soon as it is clear again.

Occasionally we get car drivers refusing to leave the middle lane of a 3 lane motorway. Last year there was a campaign to remind them that it is bad driving and will get them a fine and points on their licence if caught. It is often people not paying attention while on the phone, taxis, or drivers without much confidence in changing lanes.

Buppies, my dermatologist started a new policy I found out about yesterday...she makes you totally undress, rather then leaving underwear on...because she recently had a patient with melanoma on his privates. I got 4 squirts on the face to freeze AKs. Prayers for you.

Ed, Good luck at the dentist, and hope the fog is not as bad there in the mountains as here.

72 going to 88. Hey, I thought it was Autumn.

Here, I'm pretty sure you can get a ticket for riding in the left lane if you are impeding traffic, regardless of how fast you are going. Many of our interstates don't allow semis in the left lane at all if the roadway is 3 or more lanes wide. This has helped traffic, but still many cell phone users seem to hug the left lane and drive below the flow speed...I think they assume they don't have to concentrate on driving as much there...their "safe space." I've started driving slower since I retired, and especially since I got my truck a couple of years ago...I'm always in competition with myself to see how good MPG I can get off each tank. I'm amazed how 5 or 10 mph can boost mpg so much.

Drew, learned something new from your post...jury-rigged...I've always heard it as jerry-rigged and see that both are used, depending on locale.

I bought chestnuts one year so I could "roast them on an open fire" but didn't like them that much.

good morning all.

Billy, you are probably right, but growing up in a family of lawyers, who interestingly rarely saw a jury, all business lawyers, that term
was the one remembered. A Jerry was a gas can, right? So you rigged up an extra gas can for ? sure there are a zillion stories here.

Let's see, there are a few seriously non pc terms that used to be used, usually referring to some third world reality.
And I admit that I grew up hearing some of those words, often in relation to cars. What different ethic or racial types did with their cars.
Some words should die off...

but never Rube Goldberg. Did you know that Rube was a Berkley graduate in Engineering? With a serious sense of humor

I wish I could send some humor Buppies' way, we are all pulling for you. And Ed, hope your day went ok.

off to doc's this morning for flu shot, they still don't have the Shingrix shot available, I'm on the waiting list at local pharmacy.
Speaking of that, Toppop, hope you are healing well. BTW, Randy, did you drive that four wheel oddity you call a Gazelle? Purists would sniff from coast to coast, but there is always a market for something outlandish and fun. I'd like to see a Gazelle park next to a bunch of Morgans in a parking lot in England, all driven by elbow patched tweedies. Talk about culture clash...
Always a good car for a parade. Looks like you have a great car talent to help others with.

74 going up to 86 in fog, I'll be mowing lawn today.

Coffee has been poured. 63° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 65° with sun in afternoon. Got flu shot yesterday. Left arm a little sore. Got trim stained. Put some stain finish on it today. If lawn drys. I may cut it today.

Harvey, sent me his Iceman cold therapy machine in the mail. Going to unpack it and learn how to use it today. Weird thing happened. About 10 minutes after package arrive. My phone is making noises in my pocket. It's calling Harvey. :confused3: Huh, how did it know that I needed to make that call. Must be one of the iOS 12.0 upgrades.

Ed, good luck at dentist.

David, good you got the mowers up and running.

Wngsprd, I have always have used Jury Rigged.

Buppies, prayers.

Newbury, green. Not my favorite color. :D

Don, hope the cleaning works out. After kitchen Island is installed will need to get someone to do this with our place.

Good Morning All.

No, Eric, I haven't driven one with adaptive cruise control, although what I've read and heard about it sounds good.

Beaver, on "Leave it to Beaver" was sitting outside his front door waiting for the "second mail". Does anyone remember when the the USPS delivered twice a day?

73° this morning with forecast of 85° and 80% chance of rain, mostly for this evening.

Forecast was high for thunderstorms in the Texas Hill Country, for today, so I loaded up and left yesterday afternoon. Our Canyon can be "fun" to get out of, with a horse trailer, after big rains.

Great weather while I was there though.

Hope everyone has an excellent day.

Prayers to all.

I don't remember that being done in residential areas, but when I was a clerk in the Dallas Post Office (1958-1964) twice a day delivery was done in the downtown business area.

I heard it raining when I got up before 5 a.m. and I just now went out and dumped about .95" of rain out of my gauge. Temperature was 68 and NWS was forecasting a high of 68 today. It's now down to 67 and forecast to go down to 66. Sure is different weather from what we'd expect here. So far this month, I've recorded 12.46" of rain (not counting what ran over on the 21st), and 12 rain days. Just unbelievable weather for us.

I remember when my parents got a morning newspaper and an afternoon paper, but never 2 mail deliveries.
