Wow, i had no idea the commies were that much in control.
1:14 cost/benefit is communism?

Ag inspection at the borders illustrates the power of large corporations to get government to defend their interests. California agriculture is corporate - not little guys.

Not exactly 'communism'! :)

Along with bee decline, Glyphosate causes global warming, cancer, road rage, teen pregnancy, asthma, allergies, obesity, high blood pressure, addictions of all sorts (including social media), delusions and most of all, excessive lobbying in halls of Congress..

They left out 'rots the mind' in the article I cited! :)

Remember, we're talking the Land of CARB and Prop 68 that raises the costs of everything nationwide to satisfy ONE state. I propose a law than outright bans all of the labeling outside the ... state ... err country of Cali.

Oh... and did you notice the spike in egg prices a year or so ago? Yeah, that was because of Cali too.

I spray fencelines, but only close to the fence so I don't have to weed trim. I leave lots of brush for birds and small critters. I try not to use Monsanto products when doing it, but I can't say if the others are any safer. I avoid Monsanto in a large part due to the Monsanto Protection Acts.

One thing I noticed recently. They came through and sprayed power line right of ways about a month or so back. 30 feet or so each side is now brown, totally dead. Everything from scrub brush to 20' and taller trees. Yeah, it's nice for trees not to fall on power lines and knock our power out. But they left the 50' and taller trees that are within 30' feet, so there is still a significant chance of disruptions. I don't see scrub brush as being a threat to utility lines either.

I have no idea what they sprayed with, or how concentrated, but the stuff is dead .... quick.
Scrub brush makes it hard to get at switches and other devices during an outage or poles and wire that are damaged. If it's over 100kv, the government mandates trimming. The utility will be fined if not done.

Lots of maybe scientific research on GMO's and chemicals.
I consider roundup to be one of the milder herbicides available for use, supposedly it breaks down in seven days after application.
Breaks down into what? Plus, regardless of that, it stays in your body forever.

We may not like chemicals but I'm also not a fan of "organic" the production and yield is much less per acre and the cost of production is much higher.
And many times the quality of the product decreases.
Many farmers are turning organic, not because they're secretly a bunch of liberal hippies, but because they can actually turn a good profit for once. Theoretically you might expect more "spots" or "defects" on organic produce, but I really haven't seen that. The organic produce I have bought looks greener, fresher, bigger.

Without chemicals you could and would easily triple your food bill, it would also be great for the small farm and hurt so many of the large agri-business farms.
The cost of organic produce gets lower every year because....more farmers growing it, and more and more people are willing to pay a bit more in order to avoid consuming herbicides and pesticides. And with increasing economies of scale, the price goes down and down. Sure an organic head of lettuce used to be triple the price; not any more. When Walmart went organic, you knew it was real.

Also GMO is really just an accelerated hybrid crop.
Hybridization is controlling what pollinates with what--it is still a natural process. GMO is going in and fooling with the genetics directly. Even hybridization has issues; for example, while "breeding" a crop to be sweeter, or to mature earlier, or to withstand storage or shipment better, or to be resistant to a certain pest, other things like nutrition and taste can be lost. Hence, the tasteless tomatoes you buy in the grocery store.
