I had to chuckle based on this conversation, my Amazon box was delivered today, with several packages of flavored fig newtons, a box of tea, and a beautifully bubble wrapped bottle of olive oil from France. One that a certain TBN member makes. And nothing else in the box, so the heavier
bottle of olive oil wanged into the shock absorbing boxes of newtons and tea, and the boxes came through a bit worse for the wear.
Not one iota of packing material, just your every day lapidary tumbler special.
Everything was fine though.

I've bought my appliances from Sears for 30 years. Now they are becoming just a tarnished secondary name, tools peddled in local Lowes,
I doubt any of their appliances are built here in the US any more. So when I needed a washer and dryer, I bought Maytags with the American flags on them, saying built here. Sorry Kenmore, you've become the next Oldsmobile or Pontiac.

I sure wouldn't think of buying a large appliance online, Amazon or otherwise.
Maybe I'll have to rethink that.

Washer/dryer: only brand still made in the USA is Speed Queen.

After multiple failures of "big box" brand appliances, when the crappy digital beeping HD washer went kaput, bought a Speed Queen and love it. All steel, sturdy as heck, simple controls, no digital crap to fail. Yes, it cost a bit more.

Several TBNers have speed queens.

That sure sounds familiar Gunny. A lot of us drive trucks and if you are getting 15mpg, there really is a cost factor to getting there
not even considering the hours of extra time usually involved vs clicking the mouse button. I live near a very small city, my downtown is thankfully only 20 minutes away. But there's nothing there...Lowes, Walmart and TSC. That's all I've got.
so who you gonna call Ghostbusters?

My problem is I don't have an Amazon near that I can drive to.
You go to your Amazon that is closer then the store 20 min. away but I don't have one.
I end up going on line and finding most things cheaper then the Amazon price and get it shipped to my house free.
Maybe you should try looking online for things you need.
If you Google them you may have to go to page two because Google puts Amazon first, second, third, etc. and the links go to stuff I wasn't looking for.

We have Speed Queen washer and dryer. I wish they'd get into the dishwasher business.

We went to Sears tonight. I had a $50 gift card from Christmas still.

So, I pick up about $50 worth of small toolboxes, a toolkit for my kid's apartment, and a set of 5 metal files. Wife sees a sign that says spend $75 and get $30 for members. She remembers she's a member, so we pick up a couple more things. Cashier says hey! Look at this, you have $30 in points available for 5 more days on any Sears merchandise. So I pick up 3 mini multi-tools and a large flashlight. We finally pay and get another coupon for spend $10 and get $10 off.

Anyhow, we walked out with a bit over $150 in merchandise for $30, and we still get $30 in 24-48 hours once it goes through, plus the $10 for $10.... :confused2:

Only thing I've seen more confusing is Kohl's Cash!

That program is not just S/K only either. If you log in to the Shop Your Way website, you'll see other vendors and offers.

This is funny....

The conversation has turned to appliances, Kenmore and Speed Queen being discussed. Curious am I to what a Speed Queen would cost...

Scroll to the top of the page, and there is a banner add for...

Speed Queen and Kenmore! :shocked::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Clicked on the Speed Queen and went right to Amazon.:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Later,
Dan

Only remotely on topic, but I find this a bit strange.....

A guy took a couple of engineering degrees, turned himself (pre-divorce) into the world's wealthiest person, yet was using an un-secured cell phone ?

Saudi Arabia 'hacked Amazon boss's phone', says investigator - BBC News

Shoe-maker's children comes to mind, except few shoe-makers could afford to buy entire cell-networks.....

It's pretty ironic hearing guys whine about Amazon putting the little guy out of business, and then crow in another thread how they do all their shopping at Walmart..:confused3:
