3550 HST Price - New vs Used

I am planning to purchase a 3550 HST + 75B in the next couple months.

Local dealer is at 39K for a cash purchase or 40.5K financed @ 0% for 84/mo.

I also found a used setup with 130 Hours that I could have delivered for about 30k.

What do you think about the new price?

Upside of this is using the local dealer, warranty and hopefully good service for life. I also have the option of doing the 0% financing

The used tractor is far cheaper but its a 1,000+ miles away so I cant inspect it and it wont have a warranty.

Which way would you go?

For $9000 I’d buy a plane ticket, inspect it and then have it shipped. The warranty etc is worth less than $9000- plus I’m not 100% the warranty won’t transfer. If your dealer is good, they will be good if you purchased a used machine. If they don’t treat you well because you purchased a used machine, they won’t treat you well period.

While I do understand the sentiment, I am not able to fly. It would be 2 days drive each direction so pretty much a 5 day trip.

Hire a local heavy vehicle mechanic in the machine’s area to make an assessment. When I was looking at used machines it was hard to find something for more than $2000 less than new that didn’t have hundreds of hours or was wasn’t beat to shot! So a $9000 savings is not only huge, it’s rare!

I agree with RNeumann get a mechanic and make the drive a few days is worth 9K if it was only a few thousand maybe not but that is a big savings for something with 130 hours on it. That is new!
