Rent vs buy

So the math is a bit easier. Renting a one man PhD is $59 at the local shop. I have 2 projects for sure that Need done at different times. Can buy one w 8 inch auger for right at $209 plus tax at not harbor freight.

Thanks for helping me thing through this.

I had a similar deal with concrete. I needed about 1 yard. Back then it was something like 50-60 bucks a yard. But there was a 4 yard minimum. So I'd have to pay $200-$240 for 1 yard. I found buying cement in bags for 1 yard + buying an electric mixer was less than the price of $200-$240. So I did it myself and got a mixer out of the deal, that I've used a couple times since.

Sometimes the math works out in our favor.

^^ The funds have been remitted to an escrow holding company. Once you ship the tool to our inspection and processing service for evaluation, they'll notify the escrow holding company to release the funds to you and send the tool to the final buyer.

sold ! Send the check !:D

I'll have my driver pick it up. Can you leave it by the mailbox? I'll write you a check for an extra $789 to cover the driver's fees. Can you leave that in the box with the drill? Thanks.

It depends on the circumstances for me. Stump grinder was a no brainer rental. Once the stumps were gone, I was done with it. Machine would sit after that, for years probably. Plus maintenance on the teeth is labor intensive.

Now once I sell my current home, I'm looking to at least double the size of the property. So I'll probably buy a post hole digger for my tractor. As well as the attachment for fence rolls to make it easier to unroll them. I'll hold onto both of those. Fence posts need to be replaced occasionally as well as the wire. Much easier for the tractor to do most of the work :D

I love our PHD, never thought it would get the use it does and not just for fencing, planted trees, dug holes for foundations, just had to clean up afterwards but saved a lot of shovel work, SWMBO wants a pole sculpture put in so I suppose I will get to bore some angled holes, haven't tried that yet but should be easy (I hope).
Have yet to get a ripper but I will to put in poly pipe for the horse troughs, at present it lays on the ground and the horse destroy it pretty quickly, fortunately the ripper is quite cheap and I can weld on a feeder tube rather than buy the finished rig which is not so cheap.
