Well, I like to support the dealer and if there is a question I have the factory parts. On the engine oil filter I had to use a John Deere as my LS dealer didn't have one and I had the old one off already. I don't mind paying a little more to support that dealer but filters in the $50 range for this MT125 may be a little much.

Is it just a inline filter like a kubota rtv900 had? Picture?

All your filters and fluids are easily purchased at a local NAPA outlet.
Your fluids and greases can be sourced from TSC, for that matter.
That being said, your local dealer also needs to be supported.

My concern there is warranty related. If something internal fails and they see a generic filter, what happens?

Yeah one of the filters for my 2016 Workmaster 33 was real high like that. It has a chip or sensor or something in it and a wire hooks up to it if I remember right. The problem I had was the total of all my stuff was $80 or $90 ABOVE RETAIL. Yeah, that I couldn't swallow. I won't be going back to that dealer. Also the parts manager said I didn't need something on my list and I asked if he was sure because it said it needed to be changed in the manual. He poked around on the computer and was like, "Hunh.... yeah, I guess you do need to change that one." I wasn't impressed.

my dealer was actually cheaper on the hydraulic filter than anyone else but messicks online. For the record, TSC also has some filters, that's where I got my oil filter, oil, gear oil and hydraulic oil before my 50 service last week

That is Not a problem since 1975 we have had the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act that states they would have to prove the filter was the cause of any problem.

And unless the filter is a destroyed mess, it's usually not worth it to them to try.
