People have questions that would be best answered directly by someone from the company. Anybody 'know' anybody they could contact? Admin, maybe you have an inside way to invite them?

Hey Diggin, I see that you have the PYT9000 also. When did you get it and how many hours do you have on yours?

Mine was May of 2010 and she is still chugging along. I did have to put a new deck on a couple years ago but that B & S engine is still going strong.

Wow, off topic immediately..

Kidding aside and on to topic...

I've never seen a factory rep participate on forums such as this (tractor, motorcycle, car). I believe the reason for this is they have no control over the content. Another thing is, the manufacturers want you to take up issues with the dealer. I believe the dealers would be up in arms if they found the manufacturer giving out free advice on line.

I understand that LS has a Facebook page, but I've never checked it out since I'm not a FB user. Don't know if they provide anything more than marketing info.

Well, there is RKTractorGuy, but I guess that's a dealer rep. I think LS could answer manufacturer direct questions without treading on dealer toes. They don't have a real strong dealer network at the moment to begin with. But I'd be OK with a rep from one of their larger dealers also.

It is inconceivable to me that a manufacture's legal department would permit any manufacture's rep to participate in a public forum with a written record. Grist for torts, especially class action torts, when three or four owners believe they have the same problem. Corporate law departments hate multi-state straddles.

No manufacturer's liability when dealers leave fingerprints and footprints here.

So, no company should ever put anything on the web. Gotcha.

Now, can we talk about real life and how many companies have reps that work the web and even do customer service via third party portals they don't control, like Fakebook and a few others?

I think it would be great but I wouldn't want to be the guy answering all the questions.
Posters ask questions and don't get the answers they want to hear and things get ugly real fast..
Especially when someone that doesn't even own that particular brand.

On the website that I moderate, we allow the manufacturer to have mod powers in their forum. They can delete any post they don't like. It is the only way we get any involvement by manufacturers and we still only get about 30% participation. They don't check in very often. It doesn't work as well as one would hope.
