Blew up Kubota motor

Mine are covered with Inland Marine ins policies. But I don't know if this incident would qualify. My expectations are coverage against theft, fire, wind, etc.
Mine is on my auto policy. When it's up for renewal though I probably will retain the liability and switch over to KTAC.

Wondering how your tractor is covered under your auto policy?

I have all my stuff covered under an inland marine policy, my ins co will not cover items such as a lawn tractor or zero turn under a home owners if you are over at the neighbors helping him out and it catches on fire - etc..... just bee careful if you are like me and didn't know until you had an accident

I will say this - it pays to be honest and tell them what exactly happened and offer witnesses and the fire report from the fire dept -

my company found a way to take care of me - its sad we cant even help out a neighbor or family member w/out being at risk - times have changed so check your policy coverage

I would have already called the cc company and told them what happened. Let them back charge this sorry company for your money back. You say a woman that sold the motor ? I never talked to a woman, Did you ?
I would also demand my shipping money refunded as well

Yes it was a woman I spoke with.

At this point, I am gonna wait and see how today goes.

Never have I brought up shipping, and neither have they. I would "assume" it is standard practice to refund ALL the money....always has everywhere I have ever returned anything. So until they give me reason to believe they arent gonna credit me for that, I am not going to bring it up.

As bad as the situational is, and lying to me about the block (they blame in-house mis-communication....thus the woman got fired).....they have still maintained that I will get my money back. Im just annoyed it is taking so long. But I was told today is the day, so we will see.

For some reason I don't think it was the woman's fault but she takes the fall. Sad if this is the case.

I've done it that way since buying my first tractor back in 2001. It might be possible only because I still maintain the same commercial policy which I've held since when I was self employed.

I don't either. When I called, I talked to Steve ?. He's the one that told me they had the exact motor

Well, I think I'm back to square one.

"Guaranteed rebuildable" block showed up today.

I was concerned just what "guarenteed rebuildable" meant. And they specifically told me nothing was oversized, everything standard, and no machining required. Just new rings, bearings, seals, etc. Also was told this came out of a mx5100 that caught fire

Well, no evidence of fire, block still fully painted. That's where the good news stops.

Factory bore spec is 3.4252-3.4260....with a Max allowable limit of 3.4319. Well #1,2,4 are at the upper end of spec. 3.4260 plus or minus a few tenths. Bore #3 though is knocking on 3.4300. still under Max allowable....but still .004 heavy.

And the bores are scored up pretty good. And #2 and #3 show hot spots.

Pistons look like crap, no way I'd just re-ring them.

#2 and #3 rods look like they were pretty hot around wrist pin.

And crank , all though rod journals look good, is rusted bad. It's clear they showed little care in storing.

I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

Oh....and the cam....this wasn't out of a mx5100. The can is for a non-turbo engine where intake and exhaust lobes are both 1.335". Instead of exhaust lobe being 1.310

Still waiting. They are a terrible company and will NEVER go there again.

My return tracking showed the block was returned 10:30am on Monday 10/8.

Tuesday (10/9) afternoon 4:30pm I called to simply confirm they got it and inquire how long it would take to process the refund credit back to my card.

Shop manager started swearing at me and giving me an earful. Saying things like "this $h1t don't happen overnight" and "I don't know what the h3ll you want me to do", and " it takes a few days but you will get your d@mn money back"....etc.

I told him I was just asking a simple question, no point in getting upset and cursing at me. His reply...."$h1t I ain't said the first d@mn swear word to you"

But about it taking 3-4 days....said they have to make sure I didn't take anything or damage anything then it goes to their office to process which takes 3-4 days.

Still frustrating. They took my $2k before I even got of the phone from ordering it. Lied to me about the condition of a block that wasn't even the right block for the tractor, a block that was in my possession for less than 48hours....and as of now they have had my money for 2 weeks.

Don't know weather I'll call them this afternoon after I get my next two mowing jobs done or wait til Monday.

Ok, and this belligerent shop manager also told me that the girl that sold me the motor, the one I have been in communication with the whole time ...she was fired because of this ordeal.

I called and talked to the owner this time (friday 10/12). Not the idiot shop manager.

Was told credit would be done Monday

If it isn't by the end of my work day....you bet I'm calling back.

I quoted all the relevant posts I made previously about this frustrating "return" situation just to refresh everyone.

When I said friday that I had called and talked to the owner this time and not the belligerent shop manager....That must have been Bryan. Because on their website, they have listed Bryan and Robyn as owners. So when I called Friday....it was the shop manager that answered. I knew I didnt want to talk to him so I just asked if Robyn or Bryan was available.

Well it must have been Bryan, because today I got a call from a woman....Robyn.

She just wanted some more details about why I sent the block back before the refund was processed.

And (you all have seen the pics) I just told her that I was guaranteed a rebuildable MX5100 block that needed NO machine work. And that the block I received, and sent back, had a bore .003" oversized, deep scratches in the cylinder walls, hot-spots on the pistons and cylinder walls, AND WAS THE WRONG BLOCK....as it was NOT out of a TURBO tractor.

Well she flew off her rocker. Saying they had their "shop" check it out again and everything was in spec and perfect. The cylinders, she said were as smooth as can be and cannot even catch a fingernail in them scratches....and (this is funny), some emery cloth would take them scratches right out. She continued to defend her stance, saying she'd have no problem running that engine in her L5240. And asked me who I had check it (the block) out because there is nothing wrong with it. I told her I was the only one to lay hands on it and there is NO WAY I'd just slap new rings and bearings in that wore out block. The she said something like "you dont sound like your older than 30, how many of these have you actually worked on" But again I pointed out that regardless of the condition of the block, ITS THE WRONG ONE.

So she accused me of changing my story everytime I call, and that this is the first time I have said its the wrong block. And the shop manager told her that I said I "though" it was the wrong block but didnt get that far into it. NO. I SAID FROM THE BEGINNING IT WAS THE WRONG BLOCK. (But had it actually been "rebuildable" I'd have had no issues using MY cam. Which is why I pointed out all the other damage to their WRONG BLOCK).

This whole time she is very unprofessional using profanity just like the shop manager. Nothing serious, Just the 4 letter d, S, and H words.

She also accused me as being the reason they fired the girl (who just had a baby) that sold me the block.

In the end she said she something like: "You've already cost me enough money and a good employee, I'll refund your $1750 but you're eating the freight charges"

I said I would be calling my CC company. Which I just got off phone with
