Just talked to a guy at a local injection place, he said he doesn't think the injectors are the issue, If they are leaking it would be hard to start hot as well which it isn't, he said some machines like throttle when cold and if it starts well with the method of cranking with the throttle 3/4 open and then backing it down to idle as soon as it fires then so be it..

He said half of the heavy equipment he works on require some throttle to get them to start quickly after sitting..

So I guess I just happened to stumble on the ingredients to start this particular engine quickly..
gas engines start best when put into full throttle with the choke fully on, then when it starts stumbling, the choke gets turned off, it seems diesel is the same.. it gets more fuel this way..

Never thought about it really but my new lawn tractor is full throttle and full choke until it fires..

yep, no biggie, it's just how it works. now, the EFI systems can be started at idle, and run good, because they are computerized..

I was always taught never to put anything with oils in it in any lock mechanism...

because petroleum based oils not only collect dust, but they can gum up the mechanism. Teflon or Silicone oils do not do that..

Perfect case of what works do it. My Harley’s were a good teacher in that regard. Adjust advance and adjust throttle then kick and pray you got it right or you could go flying or break something.
