Bright shining 12 volt bulb would indicate more than 12 volts supplying generator ind light. Does your tractors wiring have the resistor(key 5) part number R39550? Bulb is part number AR55694(2 CP 12-16 volts) AKA 1895R

I do not remember seeing a resistor. Where exactly would it be located?

Can I get a 24 volt bulb? Usually 12 volts will light a 24 volt bulb

I'll check voltages there when I get a chance.
