Is there a benefit to running tandem wheel setups on shredders

When I had the guy rebuild my 307 Bushhog, I had him build tandem wheels (not double tandem like in the photo) on the back instead of just a single tail wheel. I not only provides better flotation, but keeps the deck more stable. My 307 deck is 1/4" plate and weighs over 1500# so dual wheels also provides more carrying capacity than a single tail wheel.

Adding dual wheels whether they are the solid flat proof or pneumatic tires reduces the amount of wracking from opposing corner to opposing corner of the rotary cutter as it helps to maintain only a limited amount of stress on the mower weldments that are attached to the steel sheeting that the mower is constructed from.

My pastures are very rough.. From hidden hog diggings to erosion over the years. it sounds like you would recommend running tandems. When I see my recently purchased bushhog 3210 bouncing back there as Im clipping along, I know the bouncing can稚 be good for the shredder. Thats why I was thinking about adding another two tires. Pretty easy to do on the bush hog. Do you think it will help not beating up the tractor as much?

Is your cutter a pull type or three point hitch mounted?
I ask only because setting the cutting height and locking it will have many plusses
and fewer minuses other than a taller cut.
Do you plan on making it good turf with plowing discing and using a grass drill
some time in the future?

It is a pull type bush hog 3210.
Its used for yearly maintenance to keep the brush knocked down and help establish the native wildlife grasses..

Ah,

adding more wheels will help you to keep it from wracking and breaking factory welds as rotary cutters are prone to do with time and use and abuse.

I get to play with my first snow tomorrow.

The Toro snow pups saw the snow from the open garage doors and they are barking to get out and work. I told them tomorrow we can work as the snow is supposed to stop then.
