The plan was a 8t machine but the tire on the tractor that is used to move the 8t was flat and damaged beyond repair so the Taceuchi TB16 it is :)

Why do you use tractors to pull on road trailers over there? Here tractors don’t go fast, don’t have the HP to go fast, don’t have good brakes, don’t have suspension, and the road wears tractor tires quick. I’ve seen some European tractors with most of these problems worked out, but why not just use a truck?

A tractor is much more versatile, a proper tractor can almost reach 60km/h so its not that slow.
Much easier to get drivers, license to drive a tractor is very much cheaper than on a truck.

And with a proper trailer you can get a good load and with a tractor you handle bad roads and conditions much better.

But of course you can't compete with a 50t truck when it comes to volume and fuel cost.

Fencing on my rock farm 😉

Do the tractors have very much upgraded brakes vs North America tractors? Do they use road tires? Do they have the hp to maintain that speed? Over here you can buy a day cab semi for pretty cheap.

Depends on top speed, 30km/h no particular demands, 40km/h four wheel brakes, can engage 4WD automatically for front brakes, 50km/h+ must have separat front brakes, dual circuit brakesystem and front suspension with a spring function, and all rims must be welded together so no adjustments on with. Probably more minor demands I don't know so much about.
Airbrakes are very common om trailers designed for high speed, all tractor trailers from 6t must have brakes, most common on 40km/h and slower are hydraulic brakes, operated with a special brake valve on the tractor.

My backhoe is nearing 100 hp and is a real snail dragging itself up a grade. I’d sure hate to have a 40k pounds hooked behind it. My backhoe has good brakes but I doubt they are very good for heat dissipation.

If it has a converter gear box they are very slow, and 100hk is considered a quit small tractor, almost no tractor sale under 75hp here I Norway, but cheap Chinese tractors are starting to pick up some sales to the hobby market and that are of course small 50hp and smaller.

And on some tractors abs brakes are an option.
