You must have ended up with one of those F150s built on a Monday. Never owned one of that vintage but a couple days ago I bought a set of tires/wheels from a guy who had a pristine 2006 sitting in his driveway. I remarked on the good condition of the truck and he said he took good care of it because it was the best truck he ever owned. Had it since new and now with 150,000 miles on it he'd had to do only routine maintenance and hoped to drive it the rest of his life!

You may be correct.The wifes 2008 ford taurus has been the most dependable car we have ever owned.We are real sticklers for maintaining our vehicles.The wife with our 2018 challenger SRT 392.

I suppose we could fill the universe with Ford pickup comparisons, but I have a 2001 F 150, about 150,000miles on it that has been trouble free in the 9 years I’ve owned it. Tires and battery are the only things it’s needed so far.

I am not a Ford guy, not even an American car guy, but I bought it from a neighbor who was getting a new truck and I got it for the trade in price. Then I spent more money on a barn addition to park it in than I really should have. Wife still complains about that, and I probably don’t blame her.

You'll fine stories at each end if the table, with any brand. My Fords are all high mileage, 3 of them over 300k (diesel), and the gas motor truck is at 240-ish. Normal wear and tear, brakes, ball joints, etc, but nothing major.

A buddy of mine has an earlier Explorer, about '06, I think, quite happy with it... its his wifes daily driver, and wouldnt keep it if it was a lemon. Best of luck with your new vehicle.

I drive a beautiful 95' full size Bronco w/ 375K on it.. its my daily driver.. bought it w/ 102k on the odometer.. turn the key & she purrs.. only on sunny days tho.. for some reason it wont start after a heavy rain.. Lol.. {seriously}

When you buy used it can be a bit of a crap shoot, but Ford has made a lot of good Explorers as well as F150s. Hopefully your new rig has plenty of life left in it.
