Good Afternoon everyone!!!!
The now "typical" 4:00AM start to the morning, but at least there was nothing to shovel off the living room rug

. Those 4:00AM walks walking around in the dark with a headlamp are eye openers. Actually I can see resident wildlife easier by headlamp. Like a lot of you I had a decent slip/fall on the ice that now necessitates wrapping my "good" knee and ankle prior to venturing outdoors. I have elastic knee and ankle braces on order; hopefully UPS will deliver them soon. My old knee and ankle braces were designed for wrong side. I walk my property paths daily; I have seen no bear tracks or scat for several weeks. I am not taking my bird feeders down at this point. I have no clue as to why the bears have not been more active in my area.
El Nino winters in theory should be wetter and "warmer" for the NE, but statistically at least for my area some of the greatest seasonal snow accumulations and individual storm snow levels have occurred during these El Nino Winters. It is a winter wonderland here at JaysterAcres, and there is green grass down in the CT River valley 24 miles away. I have a lot of tree damage from the recent wind and snow/ice storms. I plan to have a tree service take down all the trees near the driveway and house. This may happen sooner than later. We'll see.
I want to thank you for the "welcome backs." It's nice to be back here. I do not plan on expanding my "social" media world any time soon.
FarmanJoe- Welcome. Post freely and often.
Ted- It's nice to read that you finally got some restful and relatively pain free sleep last night. I hope the sleep pattern continues and you knee rehabs quickly with a fully functional knee. Thanks for the recipe.
Kyle- Brogen's rear jaw muscles have atrophied due to a rare canine autoimmune disorder. He can only open his mouth around a 1/2". He can barely grab a rice cake between his teeth.
Bruce- Thanks for the pumpkin suggestion. I/We have an oversupply of delicata squash from our garden. I need to see if this variety of squash works as well as pumpkin. Brogen is getting some squash tonight. It can't hurt. Again, thanks.
Drew- I agree with your post. It's so sad. I saw/experienced a lot of pain in my years working with the victims of violence/physical/sexual/emotional abuse. I have memories that I wish I could forget. The almost daily news reports of violence directed against the helpless does not help.
RNG- I too hope that you can return home and start reliving your life again. Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts about this catastrophe.
My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.
J
