I only influence colors, the final choice belongs to my sweet little bride.

The finish wood work is sure taking some time. Talking to the guy doing the work; he thinks he'll be done tomorrow. Not sure he will be, we'll see. I guess it's good he's taking the time to do it right.:thumbsup:

Right, that is something you do not want to rush. Otherwise you will see the mistakes every time you walk past them.

Update;

Finish wood work should be done today. Just a little longer than expected. The wood is Knotty Alder.

Painter is supposed to show up today.

Garage doors and openers were installed yesterday.

Terry was considering knotty alder for her cabinets them switched to cherry. I like both.

Tell me what ceiling lights you are using??? That's our current debate.

Most are LED can lights. There are a few hanging lights and then fan lights for the bedrooms.

Our cabinets are Hickory and all the wood will be natural, clear coat only. (no stain)

We are leaning toward LED wafer lights. Still educating ourselves.

My cabinet choice was Hickory. :)

Thanks for the update and for sharing.

Is there an advantage to putting up sheetrock before the wood on the ceiling? I'm curious on why to spend the time and money to install the sheetrock first.

A few things;

More insulating value, less outside noise, waste less T&G wood, holds all the insulation where it belongs. (blown in the attic)

At least these are some of the things the builder and finish guys have told me.

I had to do it for fire rating requirement in a two family home.

Mainly fire rating, I would assume.
