I thought that maybe I am missing something and that this is both better and faster than me doing the hand filing as I've done for about 30 years now. I feel that I'm pretty good and quick at keeping my chain tossing nice squares out and no powder. But I thought that there has to be something that attracts people to these kinds of things... So I could be missing out.

They are faster, if you have several to do, and/or your chain is heavily damaged. That's about ALL I'll grant a chain grinder over hand sharpening (at least hand sharpening by someone who knows what they are doing. There are far too many who only think they know what they are doing, but putting a grinder in their hands is unlikely to change that.)

I'm sure that I'm not a ninja Jedi master chain sharpener, but I do well enough that I would never consider paying anyone else to do it. I use Forester chains and bars, I buy 3 chains every other year.... But I'll admit that I use a chain until it's past where many would toss it. I just keep chasing the depth gages down and keep going.

This was gifted to me, unopened, sealed box.... Yes.... Or no? Sell it on CL unopened or open it and play with it instead of my tried and tried hand filing teeth and depth gages?View attachment 580980
I use mine after several hand sharpenings to bring the cutters back into uniformity. If I wasn't always in such a hurry I'd use it more often.

I was in HF this morning and mentioned I had received an email last night saying the Black Friday sales were being offered again today and the 46" wood top tool cabinet was looking really good at $199. The gal at the register asked the manager that since I was in often, could they offer me their "Friends and Family 25% off special" and the cabinet would only be $186. She said they do this once a year and it is good for 25% off reg. price on anything in the store ( like welders and tool carts that you usually cant use a coupon for). I do not have a coupon number but she said if I decided to use the discount, just tell them at the register and the manager will OK it. Good till Dec 3.

Sweet deal! That would probably make me go buy even a bigger tool chest.

Any any experiences with the concrete mixers? Or better option in same price range? Looking for something to mix maybe a pallet of quikcrete at a time, and and not wanting to spend a fortune. Screenshot_20181201-150736_Chrome.jpeg

Point was there are better brands for the price. I don't know of any that are made here now. At least you can buy a German one for similar money as to what was listed. Personally I like my $40 Porter Cable grinder, seems very well built including the power cord.
I have a Black & Decker lightning angle grinder that I bought at Lowe's quite some time ago, possibly in 2007? It's still holding up very well. Is the one that I use when I need to use the grinding discs rather than the cutting wheels. I also have a $15 ish Harbor Freight grinder which works well, but being a 5-6 amp grinder rather than a 11 amp grinder, it is limited on power.

There are a few previous posts if you search this thread. Consensus seems to be they're OK, but nothing special. From what I understand though, they're only good for one 80# bag at a time. I can do two in my wheelbarrow.
