MF35
Hi all, I'm from Brighton, Tasmania which is a rural area with many small to large farms. I am 67 years old and I manage a small farm of 104 acres. I use an old MF 35 3 cylinder Perkins diesel tractor around the farm, mostly slashing grass. I've been having problems with it not starting, having to continually bleed it to get it started only to have it stop after about an hour. I have no one to help me so thought I'd join a tractor group so I can learn more. I hope to make a few friends along the way in my journey to understanding what makes my tractor behave the way she does.

So, are you one of those devils?

G'day Cobber and welcome to TBN from St Helens!

Enjoy the site.

Have you had a squiz down the diesel tank with an inspection camera? You might have a biological growth... it looks like fairy-floss mixed with phlegm. I've got the perfect solution to that problem if that's what you've got.

Welcome to TBN. I’ve spent some time in Hobart back when I was stationed on a US Coast Guard Ice Breaker. You have come to the right place to ask questions and seek advice. I’m a new tractor owner and everyone on here has been very knowledgeable and eager to help.

Good luck with that 35. It was made in the days when MF was MF.

Welcome to the forum!

I believe you may have a trashy fuel system in your tractor.

Siphon the tank empty.

Remove your fuel filter(s).

Disconnect your fuel lines and blow them out with compressed air.

Remove the tank and pressure wash inside- if there's a bunch of rust, replace the tank or coat the inside- if not, dry the tank with a heat gun and or a rag on a wire.

Install tank and new filters.

Reconnect your lines.

Add CLEAN fuel from a CLEAN dispenser using a CLEAN funnel.

Bleed the filters and pump and fire her up.
