Mahindra 4110
I bought a used 4110. I went to run my bush hog over the summer. When I engaged the Pto, it at first didn稚 want to operate. Had to rev up the rpm痴 to get it to finally run.

Ran fine for a little while then noticed the hydraulics stared to shutter. Stopped using the tractor for a little while. Ran it a couple weeks later, hydraulics still shuttering. I changed the hydraulic fluid and all the filters. Fluid and filters were pretty bad. I ran the tractor after the service. Everything ran great. Parked the tractor for a couple weeks. Ran it again and the hydraulic shuttering came back.

Kind of at a loss.

Can you define shuttering hydraulics? Loader is shaking, steering is jerky etc?

Well I wish I had a FEL! Anyway, the 3pt shakes a little when raising it. The steering will get tight, kind of like it lost power steering. The last time I ran the bush hog (been a little while) it would spin, but when I got in heavy brush, it would want to slow down or stop like it was slipping.

Pump is cavitating ! Suction leak or clogged sump screen. Pump maybe starting to fail.

Any advice on what to check first to try and narrow down the source of the issue?

You will need to hook up a pressure gauge to see what that is doing. Pull the filters and see what’s going on in there. Getting to the pickup would require a manual or good understanding of how that particular machine works (not me).

Have you ran the machine and cycled everything lock to lock 15-20 times to verify it’s not just some air?

The only thing I haven稚 tried running is the pto. I don稚 have a FEL. I have operated the 3pt quite a bit. Like I said, right after I changed the fluid, everything ran good. I would have thought if it were air it would have been an issue then. When I changed the hydraulic fluid, it was pretty nasty. Filters, I thought were pretty gummed up.

You've got the large, canister suction side filter under the tractor - it's easier to drop the whole heavy metal canister and separate it to change the filter inside. Then you have the pressure side filter which is the spin-on on the upper left of the rear axle. Then you have the suction screen in the bottom of the trans. assembly - it is held in by 1 bolt on the left side of the lowest spot of the trans case. You remove the bolt and twist it out - it has an "O" ring that seals it to the case. Of course all the trans fluid has to be drained to change/service either of the suction filters. Good luck with it !! Oh yea, the PTO is an electro/mechanical independent. Hydraulic pressure is used to engage the PTO clutch via the electric solenoid mounted on the right side of the trans case.

I just changed all the filters probably 5-7 hrs ago. You suggesting I need to do it again?

did you clean the suction screen? If the fluid & filters were dirty when you changed them the suction screen must need cleaning.
