Backhoe Should you buy a good used 2 wheel dive backhoe

That’s a closed group so we can only see the pictures you posted. Do you have more information? That subframe appears to be broken. It also doesn’t appear to be 2wd.

Sure looks to have been abused. Would have to be a very good price for me to be interested. If loader treated this badly how about the tractor?

I’d be more inclined to say it’s a poor design on the subframe. I don’t see anything else to justify abuse. Most of the paint on the backhoe bucket and stabilizers is still there so I don’t think that part has a been used much. It doesn’t look like the tractor step has the paint worn off either.

He's saying subframes suck & you should go buy an old tired 2wd yellow industrial backhoe instead. He's been crosposting this to several forums, apparently with an ax to grind.

If you look at the subframe damage, it's all rusty. That damage, those cracks & tears have been comming apart for a long time. Some maintnance & occasional inspection. Would likely have prevented this from completely falling apart.

I think that subframe design sucks and the Kubota design is way better. You can flame me if you want but I think in general the Kioti is a pretty solid tractor but the subframe backhoe is not as well thought out as Kubotas. Tractor backhoes in general aren’t for major digging jobs regardless of how good or bad they are. I sold my tractor and bought a full size backhoe. But my 16,500 pound 95 hp backhoe and a 30 hp tractor isn’t even remotely in the same category. I use the L3800 all the time for stuff my backhoe isn’t cut out for.

My guess would be his mounting bolts are loose allowing the hoe to over stress the subframe as it gets some momentum when the bolts are loose.

Bad design doing that cross weld as that is common having it break next to the weld. They should have just welded down the sides, not across the top where it broke.

Too true. Anything is going to break if you abuse it enough or push it past it's limits.
That subframe break looks very similar to what I did to the loader on my last tractor; except mine broke out where the box was welded to the arms, and kept getting worse because I didn't fix it.

I would pass. I don't think the backhoes was matched to the design capabilities of the tractor. The subframe shows the level of thinking that went into this. - Check with other Kioti owners with mounted backhoes for what they think. That is a fairly easy fix for a welding shop. But the question is - is it wise to fix it.
