Quite odd. See what you mean about this being intermittent.
I'm impressed by the mechanical work you have already done on this motor. I assume the valve gaps were all set when you did the head but that might be worth rechecking after things settle.
Let us know how the injectors check out. Injectors must seal tight (no drip) until they pop, at a specified pressure, and spray finely atomized fuel in a conical pattern. If one drips after you stop the engine it could create a partial hydro-lock that could make hot restart hard.
The lift pump is a possible culprit if the 'check valves" get leaky, which could be heat-related. The lift pump needs to provide a constant low-pressure supply of fuel to the injection pump for things to work right.
In addition to the possibility of a sticky/dirty injector, there are delivery valves on top of the injection pump (where the hard lines attach). These can cause problems if damaged or fouled or a bad spring. Delivery valves are a special kind of check valve on the outlet of the injection pump. They relieve the high pressure in the hard lines after each injection pulse but prevent the IP from sucking fuel back out of these lines during the IP plunger down stroke.
There is one fellow on this list (thepumpguysc) who is a pro on mechanical injection systems.

Thanks. I reached out to thepumpguysc. I've done so much to this engine so far and now I'm just lost as to where to look. I know that when I bleed the lines when changing the injectors I get a really strong fuel supply to the injectors. Makes a heck of a mess when it purges the air and starts leaking fuel. You may be on to something as it seems to run somewhat better with the old injectors back in it, but certainly not right. The intermittent white smoking is really baffling. In the one video when I brought a load of pellets down to the house, just before I got to the back porch it started smoking before I shut it off to unload the pellets. When I started it back up, black smoke not white, but hard to start like the battery was weak or had jumped time like a gasoline v8. The battery is new plus I took it back and had it checked. I'm running out of money to put into this thing. I haven't had the other injectors tested yet and it may have to wait till next month if they charge much. Also, the closest place to have them tested is about 65 miles from me. No one needing brush hogging or gravel/dirt spreading this time of year near me and that's how I make extra income as we are retired and on a fixed income.

In the 1st vid{white smoke} u can def. hear it hitting hard on 1 cyl..
THEN I guess that's when u changed the injectors.??
It sounds real good on the top end..
Can u post the P# & website where u got the injectors.. & how much u paid.??
I ask because theres a few sites out there that have them for 35.00 each.. replacing the tip w/an oem tip + labor & gaskets + shipping, your looking at 75.00 each MINIMUM.. SO IF u paid 35.00.?? a short cut was taken "somewhere".. if ya know what I mean.??
I JUST went thru this w/another forum member.. HE did the same thing..35.00vs75.00.. He hasn't gotten his yet & was "just wondering"..
& he was worried about the turn around time because of the recent snow storms..
I'll pm u.. I sent u an email instead..

Actually, I bought them off eBay and the ad said rebuilt. I paid $65 for them there. The reason I doubt they were rebuilt is they were very dirty and the word rebuilt was written on a sandwich bag they came in. It also turns out the person I bought them from was a Pawn Shop so I really think I got ripped off. Here is a video from this morning cold start after changing the air filter. 2 more videos will follow as soon as they up load to you tube.

I think you're on the right track as far as the injectors being the problem and somebody cheated you on the "rebuilt" injectors. It will be interesting to see what you find out about those injectors. You've gone this far and have it almost like new. Hang in there. Post like you have because there are knowledgeable members here who can help.

She does seem to turn over a little hard for a start and you said the battery was new and checked out good. Maybe check the battery ground cable to frame. Mine gave me problems there and a good cleaning with a little copper antiseize has lasted 12 years so far. Also, members have had corrosion under the insulation of the battery cables at the terminal ends. Might be worth a check if not already done.
