It's an absurd comparison that I can not wrap my mind around.

Very often when someone is new to tractors and shopping around, they end up shopping based on price and put together some real oddball choices to compare at a certain pricepoint. Seen it many times here on TBN. It makes no sense at all, but just try to tell them that!

Correct. A mid mount mower was originally in my plans, until I learned that the install/removal sucks, and that a rear finish mower actually mows every bit as well yet can be backed under trees or shrubs and can be put on or taken off in about a minute and a half. Oh, and you can almost buy a rear finish mower and a rear brush hog for the price of a mid mount. At the end of the day I could not find any way at all to justify a mid mount.

That is a great looking tractor. Thanks for the info. I already have a 5 ft bush hog and finish mower, so I guess I could do without the mmm. If I go this route I will get rid of my zero turn in the process.

I can see all that, but in my case, I felt there would be an issue of turning radius with any trailing mower. Backing up with it would be a problem too for me. Took my MMM off for the first time recently and it was only a couple of latches and removing the PTO shaft. Not difficult, but more than 5 minutes. Putting it on again might be another story, but I won't know that until Spring.

My problem with rear finish mowers is they swing out when turning. This is a problem when mowing near stuff. Say you are mowing along side your house, you turn away from the house the mower swings into it. If you have a lot of open ground, not a big deal. On average it takes me about 15 to 20 minutes to take my MMM off or put it back on. I only take it off before winter and put it on in the spring. I usually don't take it off for end loader work unless I'm working on some really rough ground.

Reading comments in this thread some of the comments on LS tractors got me to thinking and did look up LS. First was surprised to learn dealership about 35 miles away. Reading the info on LS site will admit if I were looking to buy tractor in their range today probably would look at them. Not saying would go that way when got hands on it or the price and such.

On a BX I think the MMM works well. On a B, I would go finish and not get that close to the house or carefully choose my path. Heck even a ZT is easy to bump into the AC units or corners or fence posts if you aren’t careful. You have to know the limits of the machine you are operating.

Huge learning curve on a zero turn. Not as easy as it looks.

Agreed but what a wonderful machine. I have a Kubota ZT that I use in the apple orchard and it is a wonder. I can keep the spaces around the trees clean which helps to control apple diseases. Also, I spaced my blueberry bushes (in rows and between rows) based on cutting with the ZT.

The B2650 with turf tires and 72 inch mmm is a superb mowing machine if the ground is not to soft from rain, even with the weight of the cab. Tires are unloaded, fel is always off for mowing. Be careful around trees with flashers as they are easily damaged. I fabricated some 4 inch tube steel guards to protect them. MMM removal and installation are accomplished in about 15 minutes. You must have the gauge wheels chocked and on lowest setting if you use the drive on or off mounting method.

Matter of fact, I'm going back up after New Years. What dealer did you get yours from?

It really gets me when people say the mmm is hard to take off when they have never done it. They have heard it somewhere. There is no problem removing or installing the mmm. I have had my 60 mmm for 4 yrs, and have installed it and removed it numerous times with no problem. Kubota has done a good job designing it. I can have it on or off in less than 3 minutes and I am over 60. It mows golf course quality. I also have a Land Pride 72" rfm that I use to mow my property out back. I have extensive experience using both. The both work well. No problem either way.

I didn't have any problem at all getting mine off once I figured out the steps. Found out my gauge wheels turn 90 degrees at a height that allows me to simply roll it out sideways.
