Hello all, I am curious as to the practical downsides to installing a 27 to 30 inch tall tire on a 2 wheel tractor that stock is offered with 22" height. I understand less torque, greater speed, as well as implement angles are more severe, and possible leverage issues on factory gear housings but beyond that I am curious what others have experienced. I see a lot of older machines with larger tires able to clear raised beds and taller crops, and that is something I am investigating and might want to experiment with. Intercontinental tire company make some ag tread 27 and 30" tall tires for 12" rims that look very appealing at about 125$ ea, and I dont think rims would be an issue with these. What are your thoughts?

What K7LN said plus I'd wonder if increased height might lead to difficulties in control.

I'm guessing this is a belt driven lawn tractor. If so, you may be able to change the pulley sizes to match the original ground speed/torque.

The only problem that I can see is implement angles. I have a BCS and the torque loss is negligible. Those things are so low geared, they need all the speed they can get. They need all the ground clearance they can get as well.

BCS sells a set of 6.5" x 15" x 25" tall tires. I actually am about to order a set for a customer. But they are expensive. He is buying new 750 tractor so instead of getting the stock 6.5" x 12" wheels, I am just upgrading him. Still costs over $300 to swap up to those 25" tall tires though. This customer will be running rotary plow, 33" snow, 32" brush. I have test fit the 32" brush with the taller tires, but not the other items yet. We shall see. To give best feedback one would really need to know what implement you want to run. Cultivators and such have ability to adjust the angle so it might be OK running that stuff with those tall tires. So do some brands of the mowers. Depending upon the rim you use, you will probably need a couple of sets of extensions or 1 long set. Those BCS wheels will require 2 sets of 4.5" extensions most likely.

I have the 25s on my 853. I'd really like duals but good grief. I understand it's niche equipment and they're going to make an extra buck off of it. I can even justify the high priced implements. But the prices on the tires and wheels are an absolute insult to the customer in my opinion. You have a customer base that's already paying an inflated price for every nut and bolt and then they almost double what those wheels and tires are worth because they're not universal and they can.

Hi Wesp521984. Yep, those tires are expensive! I am guessing you probably have the 6.5" x 12" x 22/23" tall tires, at least that is what I sold you. So unless you bought another set of wheels somewhere else, you don't have the 25" tall wheels. Retail on those 25" is $800. The rim is 15". Sure I would like them to be a lower cost, but I don't run them anyway so it does not really matter to me so much. Matter of fact, no one really runs them. But to help my customer, the 1 or 2 persons that want them, the only fee I pass on to them when they upgrade tires is my COST of the upgrade. I don't make 1 penny on it. I am ALWAYS looking out for my customers!

Yeah Richard. I wasnt aiming that at you or any other dealer(I made the statement with the understanding that you were a dealer... you mentioned above that you were selling the wheels to "customers"). I've always assumed that it had something to do with BCS America and importing it from Italy to the U.S. market e.t.c.. Btw. Did you happen to see the videos on Youtube? I tagged you in the keywords.

Hello all, here are links and pics of the tires I am considering for the 12" X 6.5" factory BCS rims. The tires are around $130 to $160 ea depending on size and model and where you get them from. I believe their is a size or two in each of these options that may be feasible as an experiment! These are not hard to get at all. I'd love some feedback, thank you.
