I signed on with AARP 7 yrs ago in order to lower my vehicle insurance.
In time, the rates went up to more than I could get it for from where I started.
It's a vicious circle, insurance, telephone, internet, cable and SAT TV,,,,,,etc.
They all start ya out reasonable then jack the prices up over time.

So, since I've not had vehicle insurance through AARP for a couple years now, what other benefits does being an AARP member get ya?
No interest in taking a trip on a Ship, don't fly anywhere, motel / hotel rates are really no cheaper than using another participant.

My membership ends this month.
I don't think I'll renew it.
Am I missing something about the benefits?

You'll be a card carrying member of the Old Folks Union... Your membership dollars can help some progressive candidates get elected...

yeah, well I wasn't going to get political about it.
Don't believe them and me are tuned the same.
Like I said, I joined for the insurance.

I looked at AARP when I turned 55 (23 years ago).
Decided it was really all about them collecting yearly dues, and selling insurance for profit.
Never joined, and don't feel that I have missed anything.
Have used USAA for auto insurance for 57 years.
