Good Afternoon Everyone!!!

David- An awesome sunrise picture. Thanks for sharing:cool:

Thanks for the + wishes. They are helping.

It was an interesting morning. I got a couple of unsolicited calls from the healthcare providers who have been involved with this injury, and on the basis of the calls we felt it was in my best interests to see an orthopedic surgeon ASAP rather than wait to next week. There is a mobile outreach treatment program, essentially an ER in a van that is available if bad stuff starts happening here. It was a pleasant surprise to see the same personnel assigned to my case this time were the same great staff who worked on my ankle. Only the PT then is now an PA. Even better news is that the ligaments are ok and I will not require surgery if my patella stays where it is = Wear the immobilizer, do not bend the knee, do not stress the knee's weight bearing capacity, do not do stupid stuff, and keep remembering to resist the temptation to do stupid stuff. In 2 weeks if things work out as hoped I will not need surgery. On the way home wifey bought some crutch crampons. Brogen appears to be adjusting to the tether, but I need to more fully load the wood cart or I may need to tether him to the tractor; it's not going anywhere any time soon :(. He did not know where to sleep last night with me downstairs and wifey upstairs so he slept everywhere and even stayed off the beds.;)

The plow guy has not returned my call yet (like the last time). We may need a backup plan like placing a "Plow Me" sign at the end of our driveway. I see a lot of independent small time operators driving around looking for work after every snow storm, We'll see.

Wifey started moving kindling and firewood into the house. She has another day to move wood before this snow storm arrives. +18" predicted for this area.

I do not think most of the posters here could avoid not getting those nice clothes soiled. I am naturally attracted to dirt, mud, and grease; fancy clothes seem to increase my attraction.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

totally delighted to come home and see the two firemen leaving, having unclogged that whole rear ditch in about four hours.
One guy said "if I never do that again it will be too soon"....to which I absolutely agreed, and gave them both a big tip on top of what we agreed on. My ditch heroes. Just an awful job. Now we need to chainsaw a bunch of trees in the ditch, then lastly I may rent a mini ex and have a nice muddy time. But at least now the ditch won't hold three feet of water all the time. Only took me four years to accomplish this.

went out and watered the plants, 102 in the greenhouse. Everything is popping up.
Enjoy your Friday evening and drive safely.

Yes. I drive a '14 Soul, and my Wife just bought a new '19 Niro. before that she's had two Sorento SUVs, a Sedona minivan, and a Sephia sedan. We've had no major problem with any Kia vehicles, and like them a lot. When it's time to replace the Soul, I'll likely get another Kia. I really like the Rondo, but they stopped selling those in the US a few years ago. I may have to smuggle one in from Canada.

Big recall on Hyundai and kia.

I have a friend whose wife watched her Kia Soul burn up on the side of the road just last year. Apparently, the newest recall is only for vehicles that had an engine replacement from a previous recall.

The plow guy returned my call..... It turns out that he's a weather geek too..... I bet neither of us thought the call would last so long. When this weather event is over he's coming over to see the sites that I/We/Us use. I have no driveway worries now or ever.:D And with the roof snow management I will finally have a $ value as to my roof raking, roof shoveling, and ice dam busting efforts. One has to live in the northern tier to fully appreciate the challenges. I actually really like doing this stuff too; but maybe this forced "time out" was meant to be this year. ....... Do nothing stupid.......

Glad you had something in common with him and things are working out, at least on this.

<snip> do not do stupid stuff, and keep remembering to resist the temptation to do stupid stuff. <snip>

<snip>. ....... Do nothing stupid.......

Often what men do when they think things like:
"If I lean out far enough I can reach it"
"I'll be careful and not slip"
"If I just get a little more leverage it will come loose"
doesn't seem stupid when we start to do it, but results in things like:
"I fell off the ladder"
"I broke my wrist"
"I thought that glo plug I broke was stronger".

Don't ask me how I know.

Take it easy, enjoy TBN, label some digital photos or something. Older body parts take longer to heal.

Billy- One way or another things always work out. This guy's life is weather dependent; I definitely understand his interest. The roof is just another challenge to be addressed.

"... Don't ask me how I know... Older body parts take longer to heal."- Newbury Thanks. You know, I know, many of the other frequent fliers here know, and the rest suspect. It seems that the older we get the better we used to be; and some of the fish tales are really, really true;):) TBN has helped me through a few shared and enjoyed highs and the lows.

Good evening all. 42F this morning, overcast, calm wind. wind was forecast to be brisk, less overcast in afternoon, and high temp made it to 65F. Slow start to day, did get some stove wood on the porch, checked hose faucets were covered, and got a bike ride in, managed to beat the worst of the wind. Did go to Sherman to look at one car and price and color nixed it. Wife still got dinner at Red Lobster, dog sitting duties over for the weekend :)
Thanks for the feedback PJ and Buckeye. PJ have not been through car abuse with granddaughter. Issue is more finding car at price point and color and mileage.
David nice sunrise pic.
Jay good luck with your knee, not doing stupid is the hard part, not that I ever do stupid
prayers for all.

Not absolutely sure about this, but those storms might have started out here in California. Been doing my best to keep them at bay, as I've got lots of work outside that needs tending to and heaven knows the last thing you guys need is more snow! But come to think of it, it might be David we really need to talk to, as the Pineapple express is strongly implicated in the last couple, and the storm that's here now.

Aahhh, we finally get to the root of the weather problems..... ITS DAVID's FAULT !!

Sitting on back patio with good cigar and a plant based () Jack Daniels, enjoying last decent evening we'll have for a few days. Still 68° at almost 10 p.m.

It was damp and foggy all morning here and overcast all day. Rain is supposed to start, after midnight, according to the Weather Channel.

Buena noches and hasta mañana!

All traces of snow soon melted yesterday. In the short time it was here it put a lot of effort into searching every inch of my south facing wood store, successfully dampening the top layer.

This morning we are frost free and dry, which is ideal with the grand kids soon arriving. The 8 year old has lost interest in feeding sheep, however he is still keen to play outside, thanks to the attraction of a remote controlled car he got for Christmas. With wet wood and the younger grandson now walking around the house, it's best the woodburners stay cold. Not sure what will consume most electricity, the heat pump - or the continuous recharging of the RC battery.

Jay, if you don't already know about it, thought you may be interested in something that is happening in the electronics world that will revolutionise the collection of information for weather stations (and lots of other applications).

"LoRa" is a relatively new standard for wireless data transmission and many semiconductor manufacturers are coming out with inexpensive chips that consume very little power, but which can still easily send information from devices such as remote thermometers several miles. "Sigfox" is very similar. If you want an inside challenge for today, do some Googling to find out more. At least one company is already marketing a weather station based on this technology.

36 going to 43. Rain later, but all chance of snow has been removed from the forecast...that's okay, some still on the ground, but it hasn't dipped below freezing for a couple of days, so it's melting, and ground is soft.

Eric, I bet granddad will use some of that RC battery, too.

Rick, sounds like a pleasant evening.

I plan to check off a few miscellaneous chores from my list before the rain today...will probably add a few more, too.

-18°F and going to a high of -8F. Wind NE 13 mph.
We are under an 'extreme cold weather alert'.
The wind chill is supposed to get down to -40°F.
I aint goin' nowhere. I'm gonna hunker down and feed the stove.

Jay, would a Tensor brace be any help for the knee?

Have a good day all

Bill, throw in a log for me. Find some hand craft to keep you busy; i.e.off your feet. Accomplish something
with your hands (sure, why not let your mind wander...), play cards, build a picture frame, things that don't involve walking.
It sure is hard to sit there and do nothing, drives me nuts. Naps are the exception.
Same for Jay, nothing like a throbbing knee to get your attention big time.

Poor David/Sodamo, he wakes up and is told he is the problem for all the world's woes. Well at least the weather...:D
I always wondered what would happen if our world decided to spin in the opposite direction.

Tractor Daddy, that's a great looking project. Now how many cooks for this broth?
