3 point carry all, build or buy?

Hi Michael! Thanks! Well it so happens I took lots of pictures during the build of the shed and I have been considering doing a video on how I built it and the design considerations that went into it. How soon do you plan to build yours? This will give me an idea of when to get this video done and in the queue for release.

Dude, no video. This isn't America's Funniest Videos and Bob Saget ain't here no more.

Step by step posts with static pictures so people can refer back to them individually.

Seems like you have a lot of heavy wood there which means a lot of weight which means reduced carry capacity. That may not matter for larger machines, but could be a deal killer for smaller ones. Sure, we could scale down. But why not use lighter materials to begin with? 2" PVC Electrical conduit and fittings could be used for framing. If sides were needed, there are lightweight perforated panels available. Solid panels and sealants could be used for weather protection of tools that might be left/stored in it.

I don't see where you have anything loaded that needs such a stout box, nor do I see that you have a way to close and lock it or to protect anything from the weather.

Those are some good points and you definitely can build a lighter version of it out of PT plywood. My Kubota L3901 has plenty of lift capacity and I do anticipate carrying much heavier loads. Besides, I always overbuild as insurance against disaster and disappointment. I have no need to close it or lock it, but you could certainly make one where you could.

mpsmith60 - I would appreciate video! Hoping to get something started this summer. What I have seen of yours, looking at something very similar coming off the back of our detached garage.

Michael, if sumertime is your time frame, then no problem. I can probably get it done in the next month or two. I'll have plenty of detail in the video that can help you with the planning and building.

Sounds good! Look forward to it!

I built mine out of pt plywood and painted it John Deere yellow 3 coats.

With wheels and a receiver hitch it was handy.
When I moved, it had to live outside as I haven’t got my shop built yet.

One year of that it delaminated and now it looks like a mess. Plywood isn’t made very well it seems.
Though marine plywood is an option but oh that price!

I’ll rebuild out of pt 2by or metal in version 2.0.

If I decide to do one of these, it won't be with wood and I won't start with an expensive frame. I can see starting with some angle iron or electrical Super Strut (which I already have some of) and a outdoor trunk along this line:

I have a good sized one in black that's been sitting in the open Sun for several years with no degradation or leaks. I can see adding some tool holders/carriers on the sides and possibly a shelf above or below. Should be very lightweight overall.
