Trouble Shooting Emax 22 HP - Electrical issue

Update - The dealer sent a mechanic out to look at the tractor. The mechanic jumped the fuse and started the tractor. This caused the wiring harness behind the instrument panel to smoke according to my friend. So they are replacing the wiring harness. I believe he said there are two of them.

Hopefully this takes care of the issue as he has had the tractor in the shop 3 or 4 times in the couple months he owned it. Thankfully the dealer has been very good.

2 main spots this will happen... behind the ECU the wires of the harness make a hard bend and will rub against the metal.. you wont be able to see it until you get a look at the back side of the wires which means taking apart a lot of stuff. Another is the wires for the front headlight can be loose and getting pinched when the hood is closed it wont tear and is very hard to see the exposed wire but I fought one for days until I found this issue... can always check the wires under the seat also for the safety switch being pinched when someone sits down as well

the "Mechanic" must be a total Noob, you NEVER jump a fuse hopefully he learned his lesson..

Update - both wiring harnesses were replaced. Machine was run today for 5 hours without issue.

Smoke test is usually a last resort. Have to be willing to replace the most expensive piece of equipment in the circuit. Wiring harnesses arent cheap i dont imagine. Could have meggered or hi-pot tested individual conductors but sounds like you got what you needed fixed
