Ah, it's supposed to soften rubber and expand it a bit I think. May not do anything for a rope seal and I've never seen one.

Some company's make regular seal replacements for where there was once a rope seal. They aren't hard to install. The hardest part of the job is removing all the remnants of the rope seal without removing the crankshaft. If your interested I would check with your local engine rebuilder.

I was actually just looking for one, I’d think for such a popular machine (Massey 35) that someone would make one. I did see something that looked interesting, but it was for the 135, however they share very similar motors.

I know exactly what you mean on the ice. Some folks scrape down to bare pavement and some (like us) scrape down to bare ice.:laughing:View attachment 589636 That's what an inch and a half or rain did to my nice smooth snow pack. And boy was that slick under Tuesday night's snow!.

Nice drive Eric - like a bottle as we say here. We've had a lot of that this season. That's another reason I like to run plow shoes. When your done plowing the next storm you are left with a thin layer of packed snow over that ice. If you drive easy on it and don't spin it off it will usually stick enough to give better traction.

The day before that big rain I pushed all the banks back from that previous big storm as far as I could get them. Looks like you might have done the same thing. Glad I did because there is no moving them now - they are like concrete. Told the wife don't worry about getting your car buried in the snow bank if you slide on the ice.

after dropping the pan and rear main cap and seal housing. This was on a stationary flathead 6 cylinder.

It seems most of the work is splitting and removing the clutch assembly. I just need to time it between winter and late spring, need the tractor to plow snow, and summer to mow field and other duties. The short window is the tough part!

Updated pics. 8 foot Fisher mounted to SSQA plate on front, using 3rd function on front for turning. The Pronovost blower was brought over from the L3200 and widened from 64 to 80" with a pair of wings.

Finally got a pic of the set up I made for the 7 ft. Fisher plow.
I didn’t have time to clean it up and paint it before the cold came. I will scrape and paint next summer.
