R 14s Have Hit The Market

I would think that these would be a 8ply or so......quite stiff for a garden tractor.

I see they make a 15-19.5 size. I wonder if the chains for my R4 tires would fit?

I'm a ways from replacing my tires, but would consider these. My only question is the ply rating, which I can't find on an internet search. My tractor spends a good bit of time in our rocky hills, pretending to be a forestry skidder. I need something tough.

I would like to see them done head to head with AGs in various conditions. It looks like the AG would handle mud and maybe deep snow better but the R14 would be better on sidehill and on a few inches of snow on pavement. It seems that the developers of the tire could provide some direct comparison data.

R1 Agricultural, R3 Turf, and R4 Industrial tires are specialized tires for specific applications. Each would perform best in the specific field they were designed for. The R14s appear to be a good compromise to make them a very good "all around tire". Can do it all but may not as well as tires designed solely for a specific application.

I would purchase them if I were in the market for new tires today.

Are they built as tough as the R4's I could not find anything on the construction to be able to compare the two.

I'll keep my Firestone R-1's. Besides the cost of the tire plus the potential of having to buy a new rim......... I need the traction provided by the R-1 - not a compromise tire.
