New metal roof for outdoor kitchen- Ranch Style

Never messed with metal building components before. Started with drilling 36 inch and setting 4x4 posts in 15 inches of dirt and rest in concrete. Took a bit to square it all but took my time. Installing purlins was a snap and installing the R panels went fast. All galvanized material.. Took two full days plus 1/2 morning for finish touches.. We had too light up the pit last night while finishing it up to cook our dinner. Now lightsand leveling a bit more in the months too come... Please share your comments, good or bad...

What is the spacing for your roof cross beams? It seems like you may be too far apart at least for my area.

6’6” is the purlin spacing. no roof load except wind and rain in south texas.

I think I would have placed purlins at 2', just in case someone needs to go up there. Unless that never happens.

I'm not really sure what I'm seeing. Are there rafters? They should be no more than 4' on center. Purlins should be perpendicular and 24" OC. Is there a slope?

Posts only go 15" below ground? Sitting on 20" of concrete? I put fence posts at 20-24 inches minimum, encapsulated in concrete to the surface. Pretty sure I'd have at least one more post on each side too, though we don't know the current size.

Remember, you'll have wind down there . Wind under can do as much or more damage as snow over.

I would consider adding gussets or wind bracing in each corner. I am thinking a good windy day will break the corners loose. IMHO

I like your clean, simple design. While 4 foot spacing for purlins is the standard, I don't think you should have any issues with your roof. Nobody is walking on it and you won't get any snow. You also have a lot more strength then a wood building by using steel.
