Thinking of purchasing this 261 but can稚 figure why the tractor would have this draw bae and a 7 pin electrical connector. Any ideas?

That draw-bar is a "Clevis" type and can be used with various hitches designed for that (hay wagons and such).

The 7-pin would be for the running-lights of the wagon/implement when transporting between paddocks whilst on a public road.

Exactly as Wagtail says. You can mount a ball on top of that clevis hitch OR put just about any type hitch you want in the tractor receiver.

The drawbar is at the lowest point of gravity on a tractor and the only universally accepted draw point for any load to be towed. It's stated in most owner's manuals. Socket is self-explanatory.

In the area I live I have never seen a farm trailer with lights. Have seen a pickup following with flashers. Do farm trailers have brakes, so a seven pin is needed? I can’t get history on the tractor so I’m trying to figure out if it is from a farm or a manufacturing environment.

Hey - my 2009 Kubota M6040 has a seven pin connector as OEM equipment. I could pull a something that had electric or electric over hydraulic brakes. If I pull my farm wagon out on the county road I darn well better have lights on it and a slow moving vehicle triangle. View attachment 592360 And if I did it regularly with a heavy load I also better have SOME type of braking system. My farm wagon is rated at 20,000#.

I would say all utility tractors the size of mine and bigger have seven pin connections. It's standard equipment.

And regarding the drawbar. My drawbar is mounted on my tractor all the time. Why - it's just awful darn heavy to be lugging around all the time. Attaching the pin requires that I lay on my back and scoot under the rear of the tractor. Something that gives me no pleasure in the snow or mud.

You will not tell where that tractor has been by the drawbar type or that it has a seven pin connector.

Thank you for the comments. Do you have some kind of control to operate the trailer brakes?

As far as the drawbar goes the bolt on strap is used mostly with ring type trailer hitches,
the strap is usually removed for using clevis hitches.
The 7 pin connector in this country is normally used by a few pull type implements,
very few farm wagons have lights, a few of the newest ones do. Brakes are an option
on some of the newer running gear. Most tractors do not have a built in brake controller.
Many of the European models actually have an air compressor and a air brake controller
it is my understanding that brakes and lights are quite common over there.

When it comes to ag. equipment that's towed, I've only seen lights on manure spreaders in this country. (Then you don't see them again after use if the wind was blowing in the wrong direction....)

I know my tractor came with a (I think) a 7 pin (prongs actually) connector. I wonder why don't they make it the same configuration, compatible with, 7 pin trailer connectors that vehicles use?
Trucks and tractors often tow the same things.
