Hi,
New here but I just bought a full cab Kioti 4510 for snowplowing and other uses on a property I have just bought. The house on this property is at the end of a 1500 ft driveway that is steep for about 750 feet. This drive way was paved in the 90's and left unmaintained till now (2019) I can see some of the old asphalt road here and there. My question is what sort of attachment should I buy to help maintain this road, Box blade or Land plane? Most of the asphalt is gone, but IN the white mountains we have rocks... all kind of rocks in the soil. Should I have the road graded or should I just run the box blade / land plane up and down it a few times? any help would be nice.

It would be handy if you updated your profile with your location. How much snow will you get? I have three implements I use on my mile long gravel driveway. Land Plane Grading Scraper, Roll Over Box Blade & heavy duty rear blade.

About 95% of all my driveway maintenance is done with my heavy duty rear blade. It will maintain the crown, plow the ditches, fix any potholes and plow snow. The roll over box blade will help with the potholes. Otherwise - the rear blade is by far a superior implement.

The LPGS will smooth a driveway that, otherwise, needs no other work or repairs. It will not fix the potholes, maintain or rebuild the crown, will not plow the ditches and does nothing to the snow.

The ROBB will move material from here to there, because it has rippers it will fix potholes, will not maintain the ditches, isn't much good at maintaining or rebuilding the crown and does nothing to the snow.

By far, the rear blade is the most difficult implement to master. However - if you truly wish to maintain your driveway it's your implement.

If your driveway has lots of rock - 2" to 4" - you will need the heaviest implement your tractor can pull. Otherwise, a light implement will just bounce down the driveway and do no good. You will need a heavy implement and go slow. Give the implement a chance to work.

With land engagement implements - weight is your friend.

I have the snow handled with my meteor snow blower. I didn't think of the rear blade. Will this help with a road that is not graded or paved? will I be able to maintain the ditches on the road?

What this gentleman has explained in this post is spot on. A heavy hydraulic
Back blade, some time and patience will be the answer to maintain your road..

You might do well to go to youtube and look at each of those implements in action. I have used rear blade for reason given but on flat land. On rear blade you need one that will rotate the blade from left to right and also tilt both directions.

Atsah - I greatly appreciate your complement. But sometimes I feel that I may not be such a gentleman. There is a thread recently posted about one of us who was bitten by a raccoon. It did me no honor to have to tell him what I said. What I did say and his unfortunate circumstances weighs heavily on me.

Howdy neighbor (Madison NH here) .... also have 1800' steep driveway although mostly paved... I picked up a used plow blade this fall and had it welded to a quick attach plate, also had him weld on an extra 18" of plow blade to each end - 9'+3'=12' blade :) Plus left & right hydraulic pistons; main goal is to 'wing back' the tops of the snow banks that have built up after all these storms.... works great so far, have had a couple cracks that needed re welding, but super effective way to reach out over the edge of driveway and knock those banks wayyy down.....

It happens to all of us at some point I think, but all in all
We do help each other here and that’s all that really matters. We save each other from

I read that thread, I would have been spending money on shots immediately..
