Tractor Sizing Lawn Tractor for 25K Sq Ft

25k sqft is less than 2/3 of an acre. That is a lot of grass!?!?!? A riding lawn mower will handle that easily. Should take about an hour.

And to XSKIER, you must be kidding. 4500 sqft is about the size of my pond!!!! That is less than 70'x70'....and you use a sub compact...your neighbors must laugh their asses off. BTW, if you are handicapped I apologize...but a grown man in good health would look really silly. IMHO

BTW, instead of pushing snow, consider a good snow blower. I have an Ariens and it does very well. I looked at adding a blower to my rider but I got a better blower in a stand alone machine and it is a pain to switch out the deck for the blower.

Get a zero turn for the lawn and a walk behind blower for winter. Unless of course you have some crazy long driveway....

I mow 25K sq feet with a craftsman ride on mower. Had a house in the "burbs" when I bought that. Takes me about an hour. Mowed my double lot in town in 45 min. The yard out in the country takes about an hour and change. It has been doing that for 13 years. Changed the battery twice now. The deck is starting to show some rust. Have done nothing to her other than oil and filter changes. I would not use it to push snow. I only tow a spreader with it to treat the lawn. Easier to use that than my Boomer 24 for the purpose.

When it finally gives up the ghost I will get a zero turn and mow the lawn in like 3 minutes flat.

I have used a zero turn with the sticks. It was no problem to learn.

try doing that for an hour, and see how tiring it gets though!..

I mow 3.5 acres with a eXmark with the sticks. Never had an issue with arm fatigue. Maybe the sticks on yours are set overly stiff?

Depends on the lawn tractor if it is diesel or not.My JD X740 has the yanmar diesel engine with 7 iron 60 inch deck.I am pretty sure it would last 25 years with normal maintenance. My 1996 ingersoll 4020 lawn tractor with a 20 hp onan gasser is going strong with 740 hours.

Man I haven't seen one of those Case /Ingersols in a long time. Had a neighbor many years back with one. It looked like that it could do just about anything. Good looking ride

Just said goodbye to a Deere 1026R Subcompact - looking to "downsize" to something a bit more appropriate for our 25,000 sq ft mostly flat lawn. Looking for something that will support a snow blade and tow things like a seed/fertilizer spreader, utility cart and sprayer.

Our neighbor has a 300 Series that looks pretty reasonable; but wanted to check here...

Any thoughts/suggestions/pointers welcomed

Don't know about snow blade since not really an issue here..... But half acre....unless the part that doesn't fall under "mostly flat" is horrible, just about any riding mower does everything else. The crappiest little Lowes 42" I ever had would pull a dump cart or roller or spike aerator designed for a riding mower just fine.

We mowed about 3 acres with a zero turn with the sticks. Took hour and a half or so. It was no problem.
