It's often a lot like that in real life, most of what the average patrol officer does is pretty boring and they want to get in on anything interesting.

Indeed. The hours long, multi-city, 30-40 car chases were happening long before there were TV news helicopters and shows like COPS. I can remember a lot of times when all but the two or three primary units were ordered to 'terminate and resume normal patrol'.

I can only watch a few minutes of such a show. Then, I am simply too outraged, as to why society allows such low life forms to be such a burdon on the tax payer, and to be able to procreate with yet further burdon to the tax payer.

I've been watching Live PD for a few years now. After watching a while you can predict the outcome of many cars that get pulled over for a minor thing like the tag light is out. Then they find the driver has a suspended license, no insurance, suspended registration, drugs in car or on person, switched plates etc. You won't have to watch many shows before you see a taser deployed or K9 deployed. There are high speed chases and the ones that are hard to watch when the cops get shot during a minor vehicle pull over.
Another show "PD Cam" has spawned off of Live PD where all the video is from body cams or cop car cams. You can see most of the reruns on A&E throughout the day on Friday or Saturday before the newest show comes on at night.

US policing is a whole different type of policing than ours, British or Canadian.

^^ That's why I liked the UK and AU/NZ shows. Totally different worlds.

One thing I was amazed at was the requirement to get a driver's license. In the US it's almost automatic in most places once you hit 18. 15 and 16 can get one in some places with training. In other places it seems like it's fairly difficult and expensive to get one.

Yeah Canadian or British wouldn't work here and conversely. Do some research on policing in Japan. We also need to keep in mind police do not make the laws, just enforce the one passed by others.
